Well, since you can't give yourself an award, Shad0, I hereby nominate you for Pollmaster Extraordinaire.

More thanks

Though I saw the ilovebees.com note on the Halo 2 trailer with my own eyes, I didn't pursue it until an obscure little note at Penny Arcade about Dana posting again. That night was August 23rd, and I stayed up that entire night reading and reading and reading. I watched the countdown to Wide Awake and Physical, only 9 hours when I first saw it ominously counting.

I realized one of these GPS coordinates was in Ann Arbor, which wasn't too far, and (never shirking adventure) I skipped out of work on some excuse and made my way to the First Axon.

Geeks with sheets of paper, we all were, walking back and forth on the sidewalks until someone said "do you like bees?" or "are you a beekeeper?". We grew into a group of 5, 30 minutes before our location went live, and then 10, and then 15. There was electricity in the air.

Minutes before the phone rang, people with wireless laptops on the chat heard of what we must do. While we failed that day on that hard-to-hear phone, we didn't leave bummed out about the Limited Edition Halo 2 Jumpsuit that wasn't tossed out of a moving Microsoft Bus. We had that first spark of interest, and none of us knew what we would be in for in the coming weeks.

First, I'd like to thank everyone who has taken the blows for the rest of us. Anyone who has missed an axon, who has taken an unpopular stance, who has given their time for little in the way of appreciation. Thank you. You deserve it, and we're glad you're here with the rest of us.

Second, I'd like to thank those of you who have made, maintained, and Opped the resources we've used. The beekeepers chat, the unforum, thebruce's site, robynn's site, fireflies, redirectme.net, and especially darkforge, without which many of us would have been left in the dark on axon coordinates. I'd like to thank anyone who took it upon themselves to create a City Coordination thread or gave up their phone number so they get us all to the axon on time. You've worked harder than anyone else to make this game fun and successful, and with zero complaints. My hat is off to you. Special thanks go to Catherwood for updating the chat title every freakin' minute, and was gentle with newbies, jerks, and trolls alike.

I'd like to thank Krystyn for helping me get started on the chat, and every one of you I've conversed with or Halo'd with since the beginning of this game. I've never seen such a huge assortment of friendly, helpful people. Thanks to PDK for coordinating, and Ermac for his assistance during the second set of live calls. Thanks to everyone in chat and here on the forums who've speculated their a**es off in the name of an incredible story.

I'm almost done. Thank you, PM's. Thank you for taking the time to create this story. Thank you for taking it seriously, and providing something compelling every week. Thank you for not making it easy for us, I think we've risen to your challenge thus far. Thank you for being excellent actors, storytellers, and quizzers.

I hope to share a beer or beverage of your choice with as many of you as possible in Chicago.
