I didn't even know. But I think it would be great if someone designed a game where you could fight Slenderman. That's obviously something that people are interested in, yet not something that really works for this game.

In this game you eventually get a gun:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You shoot the Slender Man and the shy guys dead. The End.

I felt kinda bummed after beating this game :/

SLENDERMAN CANNOT BE FOUGHT

Why not? It's their game, and Slender Man is open source. They want a Slender Man that can be fought, they can have it.

It basically defeats the essence of Slenderman though, if you can actually fight him and defeat him. If they want to misrepresent Slendy, and make a shit game then hey they can go ahead. I won't be playing it.

Depends on how they do it. The game that Another_Creator posted did it badly. With no build up at all, you pick up a pistol, shoot Slendy, and he vanishes in a poof, followed by what amounts to a "CONGRATULATIONS U R WINNAR!" It's anticlimactic and doesn't at all fit with the rest of the game.

Examples of Slendy being beaten in existing works are rare, mostly because so few people try it and it is very, very easy to completely screw it up and make it stupid. Though successful examples do exist (the blog Lake Reflections (http://lakereflections.wordpress.com/) manages it surprisingly well.) In an interactive medium such as a game, pulling off a victory over Slendy that still keeps the tone is likely much harder, as giving players the ability to fight back is one of the easiest ways to lose the horror of a game. But if someone is going to critic this game because it has guns in it, it should be because they played it and found that it failed to use those guns in a way that maintained the appropriate tone and feeling, rather than automatically assuming that because it has them it must be horrible.

Exactly what Das Omega said. "Fight" is a very broad term. A lot of the Slendervlogs have a theme of "trying to fight" Slenderman, but they don't ruin it.

You also can't really run from the Slenderman, but here we are. Because if there isn't some way to "win," or an "objective" that you can meet, then it isn't really a game.

Of course, part of the reason the fight aspect wasn't handled well in that game is because they tried to shoehorn a new plot device into a game that they didn't really design.

Amrith: It is. There's also a VG Cats strip where the cats find Slenderman's misplaced grocery list. Leo proclaims that he is "both terrified and confused."

Looks like we've got another "clone"; Something that my friend and I found... It looks like someone is making a "Slender mod" for Half-Life 2. No idea if it's been mentioned in the thread yet.

Here you go.

Ah. I had a feeling; just wanted to make sure you knew. Smile

Love your game, btw. My friends and I occasionally play it while we're hanging out and scare the crap out of ourselves. Very Happy

Well, I got contacted the other day by the maker of a Mac app called Slender (it's some kind of code opimization utility). It was released well before my game, and the creator has 'Slender' trademarked. As a result, he needs me to change the name of the game (which I understand, since trademarks are lost if you don't defend them).

After talking with him, we agreed that if I add a subtitle to Slender, it will avoid trademark infringement and still retain brand recognition. He's happy to go along with that, and so am I. (I'll bet something similar is probably the reason "Amnesia: The Dark Descent" has its subtitle, come to think of it.)

So now I need to come up with a subtitle. I'm not so sure I'm good at this... "Slender: The Game" is a little too direct, as is "Slender: The Eight Pages" (though that one's probably a little better). Something involving tapes might work. Anyway, I could use some suggestions from other people in the Slender Man Mythos... what might be good for it?

I have a few suggestions, although I'm horrible at these things as well :p

Slender: Into The Woods
Slender: An Experience
Slender: A Game by AgentParsec
etc. etc.

Slender: At the Edge of Sanity?
Just a thought. I'm glad you can keep the title of Slender though. It quite iconic.

Slender: Horror of the Trees
Slender: Static of the Night
Slender: No Spare Batteries

Just a few random subtitles that I thought of. The third one isn't really that serious, to be honest. Lol.
