I don't know, if they treat it well and true to how the community has built him I don't know If I can see too much of a problem. I'll admit is was a little pissed myself when I saw it, but then I reflected for a second and thought about why it did that. I realized it was because I wanted slendy to stay a relative unknown because I knew about and am involved in something still relatively underground.
The real question that I think should be asked is, what's wrong with more people knowing about the mythos?

Alright, here's my problem, & it has nothing to do with Slenderman going mainstream.
Quote:
Paranormal Witness is an American paranormal reality television series filmed in a documentary-style that feature eyewitness accounts from everyday people that have experienced paranormal activity.
Unless this is a special episode, they are lying about something that they know is made up. They are getting people in on it to help with the lie. I mean, there's not fairly representing the truth about paranormal claims, & then there's just blatantly being a sleazy piece of shit.
This isn't going to "teach people about the mythos," it's just going to make them look stupid with a scam. The fact that they are going to be claiming that things, which were made up by creative individuals, were "found by [their] rigorous research team" just makes it worse.

I'm definitely seconding Lithp on that.
My mother watches this show and tried to say that maybe he wasn't really created at Something Awful, that people actually saw him so he's real. I tried telling her that they didn't bother to research him, they mistook something else for him and thought he was real, or they're lying about seeing him and know he doesn't exist. She continued arguing that maybe he's real...
I'm going to watch it, just because I'm curious about what they're going to do with this. I don't think I've ever watched it before, so I'm not really sure how they usually do things. I'll probably be laughing and facepalming throughout the entire episode.

I didn't know anything about the show, but in that case yeah; those guys are really shitty.

They fake everything. Doing something on a fake creature would be no change.

Jeff got in on the action, too.

Edit: Btw, I don't think tonight's episode is about him. They're asking if they should make an episode about him.

Haha, nice.
Yeah I figured that it was just asking if they should do an episode on it. Looking up tonight's episode, it mentions a Salt Lake City theater.
Look *sighs* SyFy, if you want to talk about the Slender Man, do a show about urban legends or something. Or internet phenomena that relates to the supernatural. Maybe a fiction series that re-enacts creepypasta.
By asking if the Slender Man would make a good episode for a show that's supposed to be about "real" paranormal encounters, it shatters the illusion you're trying to create.

I'm going off of Google, here. Even when I watch these shows, sometimes it can be hard to tell if they're actually faking, or just don't understand what the crap they're doing.
It sounded like an interview show, which would mean that there isn't really anything to fake, except for the dramatizations of the story (that someone else faked).

Exactly this. I actually started enjoying Slenderman more after I realized that people weren't trying to get me to seriously believe that nonsense.
Also, Tim's response was glorious.
