i had requested information on ordering razorkan and got this just now:

Quote:
Hello!

My name is Richard Kai, and I'm happy to personally assist you with your inquiry. On behalf of everyone at Koatoa Marine, we'd like to thank you for getting in touch with us.

I'd also like to apologize for taking two days to get back to you. This past Wednesday was actually Oceanus Day here on Oceanus, which this year, celebrates 61 years since our colonization. Don't worry, it's easy to forget the holidays on other planets! I'm in the office today but most of the company took a five day weekend.

With that said, you absolutely can order Razorkan Fish, which is now at the low price of 3cr per can, plus shipping. To your location, which I'm seeing through your routing information is somewhere on Earth, shipping is 11cr. However, to make the order you need to contact our sales staff, who won't be back in the office until Monday.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Come Monday, we will be happy to assist you. I will even forward your email to them so they respond quickly.

Have a great weekend on Earth!

- Richard Kai

so who knows what monday will bring Smile

I received pretty much the same email as everyone else. I did ask for information about Yimmu Logistics. Here is that portion of the reply email:

Quote:
As far as Yimmu Logistics, they exclusively serve corporate clients, and have direct personal relationships with each. I'm afraid they don't have a very big web presence, if any. They are a great company, and our relationship with them is excellent. They handle all of our packaging and shipping needs, which allows us to focus on what we love: Oceanus seafood.

Got a similar reply to the ones above from Richard Kai -- as I was inquiring about partnerships as well, got the following additional tidbit:

Quote:
You sure do ask the tough questions! I thought this would be an easy Friday, but we've had a lot of interest in sales and partnerships over the past two days. While I'd love to assist you, I believe our sales department will have much better answers for you. I'm even happy to forward this to them so they can assist you first thing in the morning on Monday.

Have a great weekend on Earth!]

Yeah I got a similar email this morning too. Nothing special to add from mine. He basically just said that regarding my inquiry the sales team would be better suited to help and they will contact me on Monday.

Anyone else pick up on the political strife Kai mentioned?

Also: What was the retracted information nichiera posted?

Edit: Did a google search on Richard Kai Oceanus and found a Richard Kai with a company called Oceanus Group out of Singapore. Completely OOG and not a part of this.

I, too, pretty much got everything that you guys did, with the extra mention that the presence of my book was odd.

So, what we know of Oceanus thus far (for people who need to play catch-up):

- It's a different planet than ours.
- They've been colonized for the past 61 years (although, what year is this for them? Remember, the coupon expires 2277. I asked Kai how many lightyears apart our planets were.)
- Earth may or may not be part of this Union of planets, as our currency does not reflect theirs; however, Richard Kai was confused when someone asked to pay in something other than credits. However, there also seems to be some political strife present, which may or may not be the result of our absence from the Union, as is reflected in the statement below.
- The above statement is made more apparent by the fact that Kai stated "we are unable" to visit Kariyo, and he, Earth. Terms between our planets are apparently not the best.
- They are the largest exporter of seafood, thus the planet is mostly aquatic (probably).
- They've been the lead for over 50 years, and they just celebrated their 61st, so the company itself came into existence roughly 11 years after Oceanus' colonization.
- Based on their watery planet, their names are more in reference to a Hawaiian culture.
- Earth's weeks and Oceanus' weeks seem to line up (in reference to their holiday weekend, and our regular weekend). Whatever time difference we have, it's rather exact, but still possibly years apart.

Am I missing anything?

I'm not so sure about this one -- I suspect there could be a time-warp aspect going on here. Kai seemed genuinely confused that anyone would ask to pay in something other than Cr, the official currency of the Union, and he knows you're from Earth. Plus, theoretically, you both ordered/purchased your Razorkan with Cr?

Nope, nice email wrap-up. My only deduction atm is that the phrase, "those born from the Earth" used in connex. with 61 years of colonization may mean that Richard Kai & others are the descendants of the original colonists.

That's true, he did seem puzzled - but at the same time, there's that bit of political tension that he alluded to that concerns me. I'll make that a possibility more than an actual fact.

No one else finds it interesting that Earth's and Oceanus' weeks seem to line up?

Makes me wonder whether they're on a 24/7 schedule as well. Wouldn't the possibility of this be highly unlikely?

I was curious about it, too, which I kind of addressed in my email back to Kai. Also, noted in the notes for Oceanus.

I wonder if something big is going to happen this weekend since so many replies put off any refunds or other business until Monday.
