Why Bees?

So, do we know (or have strong spec) what the bee connection is? Durga spends time thinking about bees, Melissa hates bees, there are a bajillion other references to bees, and all this takes place on ilovebees.com.

So... why bees? I'm assuming / hoping that the final broadcast will flesh out Melissa's presence in our time (yes, something to do with the explosion, but hopefully more definitive than that), and perhaps the bee theme will be sewed up as well.

Ego agapao melissa. Ancient (?) Greek for 'I love bees'.

Melissa is the ego [of Durga]?

This would help support spec that someone (sorry for not remembering who) wrote a while ago, about the id, ego, and superego. I think that he/she said that Melissa was the ego, SP the id, and the Flea the superego. Not too sure about that though. I'll try and find the thread.

haha I went to see the grudge last night, and they had a ps2 commercial up, advertising ratchet and clank, with these two guys AT and Sprint Lightning (pseudo superhero costumed punks)...

Sony's hype machine is based on comedy and production in their commercials, not demonstrating game quality... and you know Sony and Nintendo must be crazy jealous at the success of the ilovebees campaign... we know about Samus and all those new websites that popped up mocking ilove*... well, right at the end, they had boxes of 3 games up, and basically said their key phrase something along the lines "then you'll know what the buzz is all about" and a bee flew from behind the boxes up to the 'camera' to end the commercial...

sheesh... hopping on the bee bandwagon are we? Smile
I can never sy this enough, mad props to the marketing geniuses who came up with all this ilovebees stuff...!

I figured it had to do with the new flying "drones" enemy featured in Halo 2 but who knows?

Nah, the dolphins originated here, they're just smarter than us, after all we have New York, digital watches, and the bomb.

You think there's a REASON?

I had assumed that a bunch of Bungie people were drunk one night and said, "Hey, we should do an ARG marketing campaign!''

Then they decided to corrupt a cloyingly sweet website and honey led to bees and from there on...
