Where we are now.

Okay, so at this point the unsolved stuff is:

* the second e-card
* those extra letters ("uca", "us") in one of the emails from Spock Vulture
* the third e-card
* what are we supposed to get from "MuMu Land"?

Anything I'm forgetting?

Yeah, that trip to Mumu-land has been disappointing so far in that it didn't really tie anything up or answer any oustanding questions. I'll have to go back soon and this time try to chat up the natives a bit.

What you list are the most blatant "puzzles" as such, but there is a lot of unsolved weirdness that may or may not be "solvable":

1) Who/where is Dr.(?) Morice. Is this a Mumu land character? Why should we be wary of him?

2) Who is this Sharing Patrol fan who is supposed to tell us more? Another Mumu land character? Is this person the same one as Morice (msg could possibly be parsed that way) ?

3) What good are some of those answers we've come up with, like Tetradrachms and Entrapped ?

4) Can we possibly break into munin's or the aqua_matron's hotmail account by guessing their password? We did this with Ewan's, afterall. The aqua_matron e-mail account is legit, I sent a msg there and it didn't bounce. [edited to remove mention of a player's e-mail account I thought might be in-game]

5) What's the deal with those postcards, and what do we do with those answers? Wait until more postcards arrive?

6) What was all that talk about the Malt Shop, Ra, and so on? Nothing in the note or Mumu land relates.

7) What's the significance of the "man with Wolkswagen" picture at thoughtscapes?

8 ) What did the line about "shape of the forest is just as important as the trees" refer to? This again doesn't seem to have been resolved by anything recent. Are we missing something major somewhere else?

9) What's with all these gods, godesses, and solar system bodies we keep running up against? Can it be organized to make some sort of sense?

10) Why is Heph still winking? Is this just a running gag about the sexual harassment thing, or is it some clue?

I'm sure there's more, but those are the ones I can remember off-hand.

I'm also not sure the "uca" and "us" is anything solvable, although it's certainly weird and suspicious. But it could have been a typo, too.

If anyone's is good with pictures, please examine that WV picture in detail. I tried to do some "steg" detection and color splitting on it, but it's not really my area. It's a weird pic, it looks like there's something buried in there.

I think "the malt shop is neutral territory" is a West Side Story reference. I don't know what that has to do with anything though.

As for "Ra", I poked around the "pyramid" room and other rooms connected to it but I didn't find anything good.

OK, this is weird. I googled on "malt shop" and "neutral territory" and found:

http://avmists.gargoyles-fans.org/dec99_songs1.html

This is some mutation of West Side story using characters from the TV show "Gargoyles" (1994-97). Anyway, this confirms lucky_starr's guess that those references are indeed from West Side story. I don't know it.

Anyway, here's what struck me as curious: this script has 3 characters, the Royal Court of Avalon, named Oberon, Titania, and Puck! Interesting because in the "My New Temple" e-mail, the quote is Titania addressing Oberon! So once again, coincidence, or Does It All Mean Something ?

I think maybe we are dealing with a character named ECHO, just not sure where she fits in..lol

There have been some refs to the word "echo" (she can scratch stick pe0p1e 0n the ground ti1 b1ue 0r t1l v0ice ech0es back 0ver water, TelNet echo)

and a lot of muteness (A mute woman appeared in my office, the mute page at thoughtscapes)

and some refs to nymphs as well.

Narcissus and Echo are tied together in mythology. And Tiresias (the blind prophet) was consulted by Narcissus' mother (who was Liriope the nymph).

Echo is known in some instances as the Silent Nymph.

Quote:
Nine children we had, all girls. I wanted to adopt
the blind one, a boy to round them out to ten. It
did not stop my consort from finding his pleasure
with a nymphette.

Hera...nine daughters (muses)...Zeus the philanderer....blind boy, Cupid?

Is BLUE...ECHO?

Quote:
And if I were to ask you how to find the Blue?
Muninn says: Red doesn't help anyone but herself. She wants him dead and she'll not think twice about smiting anyone in her path.
Dantheman says: come on, live dangerously.
Dantheman asks: yes, what about the blue?
Muninn says: It is dangerous of me to exist in this form at all. Who will man the boat if I die? I dare say I won't meet myself in the afterlife.
Muninn says: Blue is a slippery one. Even *I* can't find her.
Muninn says: And if I could, I'd bind her better than Red did, that her foolish meddling cease.
Muninn says: Red caught her in a broken oath and took her voice, but still she finds ways to get her message across
.

I dunno just trying to get my bearings still and since there is a "Silent Nymph" at promography.com

http://www.promography.com/index.cfm?id=288

...it made me curious how some of it fit together. (Which doesn't neccessarily mean anything as there was also a "Queen" there too Confused )

Actually none of what I've posted means anything...lol..just trying to figure out the lay of the land. (Great Guide BTW )

Been busy, trying to get a quick handle on things. Am I leaving anything out of this list of new pending puzzles?

* Ewan's "walk-about"
* Ewan's new pwd
* Munin's quoting of Homer and ref.s to Tieseras (sp?), Mu, and the postcards

Add to the above, now:

* Munin's "imposter" WAV

which may or may not be related to one of the others.

*bump*

We can cross the second one from the original post of the list now that we've been blatantly handed "ducatus".

Probably wrong on this, but I am slightly confused by the use of "The Widow's Son" moniker. I know Ewan is the son, and Shana is the mother. But since this is tied in greatly into mythology, I'm trying to remember who in any mythological instance was a widow's son.

There's only one that I can think of. Horus, the son of Osiris and Isis, was born after his father's death. Ra would be his great-grandfather. Horus, like Ra, was often symbolized with a bird's head, a falcon in Horus' case.

There is also the connection with Osiris, as the king of the underworld, and Anubis, guardian to the mouth of the underworld. And Osiris himself is considered the god of Giza, which is near Memphis, which was founded by Zeus and Io's son, Epaphus.

Didn't it come from the Masonic drawing that was in the earliest emails starting off this odd trek? It was a picture of a gesture that had this in the name . . .
