Quote:
Team Double Barrel is comming to CHI to show you guys how the south does it!!!

We are planning on flying out of ATL that day and arriveing in CHI around 4:52 local time.

Flying??!! Shocked The Knoxville Axon Brigade (myself) respectfully questions Team Double Barrel's ability to "show us how the south does it". In order to represent the south's drive, determination and individualism the Knoxville Axon Brigade is making the 9 hour trek by car to the Chicago event. Team Double Barrel may arrive in Chicago alert and clean, but they'll have to live with the knowledge that they failed to properly represent "how the south does it" by not choosing to arrive in Chicago via a completely irrational act of lunacy.

what? NO NO... this message is not a result of the Knoxville Axon Brigade (again.. just me) being at all jealous of the fact that Team Double Barrel can afford plane tickets. Nope... not in the least. Confused

Soldier:
You have submitted two crew members from the same email address.
This is NOT acceptable.
I will accept ONLY the first crew member you submitted.
I will NOT accept crew member Cpt. Jesus.
That crew member must submit from a separate communications channel.
DO NOT TRY TO DECEIVE ME.
My crew must be loyal and honest and follow my orders correctly.

I sent one for a friend of mine who was at work at the time, but I definitely sent it from his own email account, not the one I sent mine from... Also, he recieved confirmation, and then 2 hours later recieved the letter above... I guess he'll have to send one on his own.

Hey, we are in middle GA. It would take 13 hrs to drive. Trust me, I thought about it. But we can't afford the time off of work. The tickes are less than $200 round trip via Air Tran.

As for being well rested. I wish. We will be working on less than 4 hrs of sleep for the next 24 hrs.

Now can anyone help some travelers out. Neither member of Team Double Barrel has been to CHI. We are arriving at Chicago's Midway. Where exactly is this event held so we can get directions.

Well, from what I've found out about the bus/train schedule in Chicago, it doesn't look like any buses/trains get anywhere near the event. The event looks like it is about 10 miles west/northwest from the airport, and the buses don't go that far west. If anyone can confirm/deny this it'd be great, or let me know if they can think of another way to possibly get to the event from O'Hare It looks like I might have to take the $20-30 cab after all, which sucks, but it's worth it I guess.

Ok, ok ok. There IS a PACE bus from 'near' O'hare to woodfield, but you would be nuts to take it. You would have to take the L train from O'Hare to the Harlem stop, then get off and get on the bus. http://www.pacebus.com/pdf/maps/209map.pdf.

Or you could get off near Rosemont adn get on the Bus.

I do NOT recommend this route. Lengthy, unpredictable, and subject to the bus and train schedules. Yes, cabs are expensive in Chicago, but you don't want to risk missing the event. Hopefully you can coordinate with another group flying into o'hare.

Why don't we just post pics here, that way we can all see who we're going to be looking for?

Screw college! I am losing a letter grade in two classes to come to this, and I am catching alot of flak from my teachers and roommates and parents. Oh well, college is here forever, this event is only once.

And yes Robo, the moonshine will flow freely.

Cross post link to Transportation

RoboGRIFF and I have a car reserved at the Midway airport for 5:00pm (Chicago local time), to be returned around 5:00am Friday. It's a full size car, so we have some room for passengers. Anyone interested can kick in, say, $5 a head each way to defray the expense and be guaranteed transportation.

Good idea, but when should be begin posting them? We wouldn't want them to get lost in a long thread.

I guess just start posting, when it gets a bit closer to go time, say Nov 2nd, I'll compile them all into one and post that. So everyone can have their own little booklet of people to look for. Maybe, if I'm real nice, I'll bring a prize for whom ever can get every one to sign by their picture during the event, and then find me...
