Heh, I'm in the UT Longhorn Band, and we'll be playing at that in the evening as the after-competition entertainment, heheh. We have to leave at 2. Which means no meeting for me. Sad

And I so wanted my own rank, too...

So, after all the time and energy I've put into this mission/game ....

!- Answering the phones every week since week #1 and taking the time off from work and family to do so.
!- Recruiting an entire team here in Idaho including the staff at both the Pizza Hut and the Doubltree Hotel who had never even heard of the game before, going from a team of 2 to a team of 15 of which 7 are confirmed "crewmembers".
!- Coordinating Team Idaho to near 100% completion every week of axon calls.
!- Playing a major part in the story, taking huge amounts of crap and compliments from it, but staying true to the mission I'd been given the entire time.
!- Sending countless intel reports to Melissa while receiving only 1 reply which was in reference to getting the phone at the applebees to stop ringing before the manager there tried to bring legal action against ilovebees.
!- Speaking to multiple reporters very favorably about the "mission"/game, even taking the time to do so while my family was making their first visit to my house in 2 years because the reporter had a deadline to meet.
!- Already spending close to $100 on gas, phone recording equipment, etc. not to mention the $ value of the time off from work.

I'm not able to attend the final "training exercise" due to the fact that all 4 locations that Melissa chose are geographically so far away from me that the cost of getting to them is prohibitive (that is if I want to have Christmas and stay married).

?-Are there others that probably deserve this even more than me that are able to attend? YES, I'm sure there are.
?-Are there others that deserve this more than me that also can't go? YES, also very likely.
?-Are there also others that have done almost nothing but just happen to live close enough to the training coordinates that will be going? YES Mad
?-Have I enjoyed the story and interactivity immensely so far? YES
?-Was the experience I've had so far worth what I've put into it? YES, probably.
?-Am I going to continue trying to somehow come up with a way to attend one of these training exercises? YES!!!!
?-Do I think I have much hope of still getting in on them now that the confirmation emails have already started to go out? NO, not really.

So, in the end, I really hate to say it, but this "end-game" does leave a little bitter taste in my mouth. I completely understand that it is not possible to have "training locations" in every area where there were beekeepers. I also have to live with the fact that I truly live out in the middle of no-where and these locations were most likely chosen to cover the broadest population base possible. Crying or Very sad

But at the same time:
Melissa wrote:
They call me the Operator because, you know, I work the system to take care of my crew.
Well, I've been listed as "loyal crew" since "loyal crew" existed, and I've never really felt "taken care of" by Melissa Sad I'm starting to feel more along the lines of a lot of others I've seen here that say they feel more "used" by Melissa than taken care of.

Ah well, that's life I guess, huh? If I can't make it I'll just have to console myself with a New York Times story (if I make the final cut), which isn't too bad of a consolation prize I guess. Wink

Have phun any that can make it. I expect a full report.

I feel your pain weephun. I wish there was one closer to me too. I would love to attend this event, but none of the locations are anywhere close to me. The closest one is 9 hours away.

I can't wait to hear how this event went.

me too Weephun... NYC would have been ok on a weekend.. but i've taken too many vacation days already Sad

i wish this end game was done differently, a whole weekend somewhere at one location (so we could ALL meet), but give us a month's notice so that people could get time off from work/classes and get plane tickets (maybe it will still happen?)

weephun, you could try asking melissa? Since you seem to be in good grace with her, she might create another group near you?

*fingers crossed Wink

Oh yah, sent that email already. Trying to work every possible angle here. Reporters, friends, whatever/whoever.

tycho was thinking of driving up to Chicago, and were it possible I would gladly ask for a day off of work (and, sadly, skip a class) to go with him, but I think he has been planning as though it were Tuesday (Election Day? tycho... tsk, tsk) so I don't think it'll work out. Plus, just two days ago I had to miss work to attend a funeral, so I'm really not able to get off work unless I think up a VERY good reason (shall I tell them it's Master-Chiefmas, and I have to celebrate my holiday accordingly?)

I dunno. I wish I could go, but right now it's sounding more like [SPEC] than "Git 'er done"... Crying or Very sad

I would gladly bring presents for the Goddess Squad and co if I make it up there, though. I don't know what, but ... something. In all my life, I've met exactly _three_ girls interested in video games, two of whom work at a local game store, so go figure. The opportunity to even know more than three others will be in the same place at the same time, much less meet any of them, makes my head boggle. So.. presents.

I'm not sure exactly how that works, mathematically, but roll with it, because I'm bringing gifts. ^_^

I am sorry that you feel this way. Seriously, you have done a lot to advance this game and I understand that you feel somewhat entitled to more. Personally, I have been unable to contribute much due to Axon location and the nature of my employment. I am limited to monitoring this forum and occasionally (very occasionally) posting a thought. *I* am truly envious of you and the other beekeepers that have had a chance to really experience this game and to be a part of the storyline. That is a pretty cool reward in and of itself.

Your complaints remind me of the end of the movie Field of Dreams, when Ray is asking what is in it for him. Don't be so sure that this is the "end game". You never know what your reward might end up being when all is said and done.[/i]

Shirts

The shirt designs, every one, look awesome. I am going to have a hard time deciding. Hyacinthe, if you want to start on a back design, that would be awesome. I'm at work so I definitely can't do it here.

Superdunner, your design is adorable. But I agree with Kali...I think black Coviespeak would be easier to see on the yellow.

"Popular" doesn't even begin to describe it. While I'm happy that there's an event in Austin, I'm sad that I'm going to miss all the Goddess festivities in Chicago. Wink

G'morning. Coffee

I tweaked the front a bit more because I was unhappy with it. I started two back designs out of sheer randomness.

If you don't like the girliness of it, just let me know and I'll tweak away. Hell creating a new one isn't too big of a deal. I just wish I had a better program to do it in. Confused

There is a little grey dot on the back, which I will remove. I was using it to match up greys. I just thought of it.

Edit: OOPS! I flubbed! On the back I mispelled KirstenS with KristenS. Sorry! I'll fix it!
