I have searched all day trying to be sure I had the closest address possible.

So far, I've come up with this:

550 2nd Ave.
New York, NY 10016

If you look this up on mapquest, and then look up the coordinates on mapquest, they appear to be the same place..plus, the coordinates have been specced to be kips bay plaza/kips bay towers from others using map tools and local new yorkers..this is our best bet at this point.

Either way, I'm sure we'll receive some type of confirmation on the coordinates within the week..or at least I sure hope so heh.

My first time to new york, i'll only be there for 18 hours Sad I can't wait though

hmm, there's apparently a Border's at that address according to a quick googling Smile

And I'll be there for about 18 hours too, looking forward to it!

Ever Seen The FBI ID?

Anyone here ever seen the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation's ID Badge? Well, here's my version. Just created at 2:07am, because I couldn't even think about sleeping now that I got my confirmation email from Melissa Cool

Yes, I'll be wearing it on November 4th in Manhatten/New York City.

I'm suck a geek...

Congratulations. Your name has been added to the admission list for the New York City training event.

Arrive at the mission coordinates between 16:45 – 17:45 Pacific Time and announce your presence to the attendant, who will check your name against a roster for priority admission. If you arrive late, admission to and participation in this exercise cannot be guaranteed. I anticipate considerable demand.

Please remember: You must be 17 or older to attend. ID will be checked.

You may wish to print out this email as confirmation to bring to the training event.

and on my ID..i've had a few things for awhile..a laminating machine, some of the no-heat laminating things blockbuster uses, and a few id card covers from staples..that's what i used..here is my finished product:

Look for me on Nov 4 Smile

Alright well, like it or not, you've inspired me to try and see if I can do something similar. Being Elite Forces myself, I feel we have to represent.

as a commanding officer

thebruce has a great idea which I am thinking of using.....

an orange business card with the following

the last fortress|17:23:00

I know bagsbee did some reconnaisance of the area. I have a doctor's appointment near there today (thursday). I am going to try to use my excellent and under-utilized social engineering skills to get some information.

I know there is a parking garage near there and I will check it out for people who are driving in.

I will report back later.

P.S.
[Meta ,you can get a bus from the airport to Midtown manhattan (Grand Central) for less than a cab if you are trying to save money. There are signs that will direct you to the bus to Manhattan. You can then take a cab to the location which should cost not more than $5.00 or, at Grand Central, get a metrocard from the machine for $2.00 and take the number 6 subway line--downtown one stop-- to the 33rd street stop. This location is about 2 blocks east of there. Don't be concerned about asking for help or directions. (I average two requests for directions per day and I never get annoyed with people who ask. Contrary to popular opinion, New Yorkers are friendly and will help you.) And if you are only visiting for 18 hours, you will be happy to know that the Empire State Building is very close by, you could at least go up to the viewing platform if you want. ]

You know... when she asks for ID, it's probably to prove your're over 17 so you can play Halo 2. You know, the "Mature" rating on the game requires you to be over 17... So they probably mean real ID. Not sure if you guys were thinking this when you read that and started making your other IDs.... not to burst anyone's bubble or anything...

Oh, but to be happy, I'M IN! WHOOOOOOOO!!!

I'm in southern NJ, close to 295 & the Turnpike. I have to ditch class and explain a lot of things to my girlfriend if I go. But if I do, maybe we can carpool? We have a week to plan... (I have an iPod- makes roadtrips with total strangers FUN!)

I just received confirmation from the Operator and I'm planning on going. I'm arranging to miss work Thursday afternoon. I'm hoping to leave DE by 2:00pm EST. We should email and talk, if you're still interested in going.

I'd have to agree, if you're not 17 or older, you may want to rethink going to New York when it's probable that you'll be turned away.

You can also take the subway from LaGuardia to pretty much anywhere in the city. It just takes a little longer.

It's not about making fake ID to get in. We're old enough. It's about doing something cool for the event.

Introductions are in order

Since I will be seeing all of you at the event next Thursday, I thought I should introduce myself. I've been a lurker since day one, but unfortunately my 9-5 has kept me from participating as I would have liked to. Luckily for me, the time frame of this event allows me to participate. I feel bad that weephun and many others that deserve to go much more than I will not be able to attend, but I will just consider myself lucky and enjoy the event.

I live in Brooklyn and can help anyone that has questions about getting around in the city. Perhaps I can even scope out the coordinates this weekend and see what's around there if no one has. But I don't have a car available to me on Thursday, so unforunately, I won't be able to help transport people to the event.

For anyone that is taking the subway and is unfamiliar, you can find a map of the entire system at http://mta.info/nyct/maps/submap.htm . It looks like taking the 6 train (local green line) to 28th or 33rd street is the way to go, and just walk it from there.

If you are flying in, you can take the taxi or the subway. The subway is only $2, but you could get lost or delayed if you're only going to just be getting in on time. But it's much cheaper than taking a taxi from the airport, which could cost you $20-$35. If you're flying into JFK, expect mass transit to take you over an hour. La Guardia is a little closer though and shouldn't take so long, although I have never flown into La Guardia myself, so I don't know much about transportation times from there.

If anyone has any questions about getting about in the city, PM me, or post here if you think others will have the same question, and I'll do my best to answer.

I would also like to thank everyone that took off time from work and family to enhottenate all those axons and all the people that spent their fridays solving puzzles when they were probably supposed to be working or be at class =) I greatly appreciate it, and I'm sure all the other lurkers out there do as well.

Here's to a great finale on Sunday and a great "training session" on Thursday. I'll see you all there (I'll be the one wearing one of my two I Love Bees shirts pictured below).
