Women and children first

Has anyone else noticed that the women who come into contact with the Op disappear almost immediately? Of course we don't know who hoodie is, but even if they turn out to be one of the missing girls it seems unlikely anyone but Tim would already know. Maybe slenderman's jealous? Or maybe he keeps them in his slendercastle. But seriously, Amy disappeared immediately,
Jessica disappeared shortly before an encounter with Masky, (though several months after the earliest documented encounter with the Op we have of her) and I don't remember if Sarah's fate is known. True, there are men who were involved with the marble hornets who are missing, so perhaps this is nothing.

It actually does affect children to. Remember enttry 37? We see a kid wearing a Spongebob t-shirt in it, then a few hours later he was just gone.

He does kinda raise a valid point though. Sure, men and women alike tend to dissapear when the Operator comes a-operatin', but in terms of the people that cross paths with it and are still around, total sausage fest.

Agreed. Come to think of it, what are the numbers here? How many guys and how many girls have we confirmed to have Operator exposure? Three girls? Five guys? Is that right? And only two guys confirmed to still be around, so that would be three girls and three guys missing. Coincidence? Probably.

Slendervlogs are very androcentric.

I cannot begin to guess at the OOG or IG reasons why. There's too much individual variance.

I don't mean to be, uh, mean or anything.. but I'm finding it hard to grasp the idea that people are seriously considering this a legitimate theory of any type. "Damsel in distress" is a pretty common plot device guys. . .

I don't think it's anything so concrete as a theory; in fact the point of this thread may just be to point out that we've got an excess of damsel in distress scenarios on our hands.

Still, if the genders reacted differently to Operator exposure, or if the Operator chooses his victims differently along gender lines, then that would be worth knowing, so I think it's worth a few posts just to explore the possibility. I don't think there's anything there, myself, but if anybody does have more evidence than I can produce on the matter, then I would like to see it.

Plus, there's the matter of children, which is an open question still worth discussing. At least three characters have plausible Operator connections from childhood, so if the Operator is choosing his victims as children (as the original Slender Man concept implied), then that's something worth discussing, too.

So, yes, there is value in this discussion because it implicates issues that are still mysterious and may be important. And no, there hasn't been anything here that has coalesced into anything as solid as a theory about anything yet, if I read the thread correctly.

I know it probably doesn't mean anything, but when Jingleman counted 6 people missing it made me think of Entry #8, the papers that Alex has all over the place. There is one where he has written the Operator symbol with an extra line, and if divided this way, it equals 6 little pieces of pie.

Granted the concept has lost a little credibility since everymanhybrid dropped all pretense and named one of their characters "Damsel" but still.
