Oh, so I don't count for the Knoxville axon brigade? I was there, was I not? plus I am going.

sorry sorry... i wasn't sure if everyone was cool with the whole Knoxville Axon Brigade thing, i mean, we aren't exactly a squad. Smile for the phones in Knoxville its mostly been myself, TridenT, and devusb that have been showing up at the phones and trying to get the ball rolling here. there are some axon hunters in Memphis who we should get in touch with to see if they're going, maybe we can meet up and be the Tennessee Axon Brigade. unfortunately we'll never have the organization that some of the other squads have had, but i'd chalk that up to a lack of axon availability here in Eastern TN.

Hey, we are in middle GA. It would take 13 hrs to drive.

i understand, Smile if i had the funds i'd be flying too. you're lucky you're in atlanta because flights to chicago are about half the price from there as they are from knoxville.

Edited: for clarity

Line Item 1
one thing that occurred to me is that we aren't really sure how many non-forum post'ers will be attending. it could be that those of us posting here are the majority of the people that will be there, so we'll have no trouble introducing ourselves. that said, it could be crazy with people everywhere so we should be prepared...so i'll post a photo once someone else does Smile

its looking like i might be arriving in the shaumberg area a couple hours before the scheduled check-in time so if anyone will be around and wants to walk around or whatever, or chat about the bees while we wait, PM me and we can exchange numbers or something... or if everyone is comfortable we could post our numbers here on the forum and others could copy them at their leisure. i'm not sure if thats an excellent idea though, so maybe we could set up an email list or something.

Line Item 2
I think it would be helpful to have an address, instead of a coordinate for us to arrive at... i haven't seen that anywhere but i think we could use it! Very Happy

Well, my idea... So I guess I'll go first.

Be warned, I need to shave and I haven't slept much in a while...

So how many people are pretty up on their Halo skills? I know my crew plays on a pretty regular basis, and we tend to scare people who haven't played with us before....

Not that we're really good (we're not bad...) but more like one of the guys I play with gets murderously quiet, and I usually get loud and vulgar.... Razz

Yeah, and don't feel bad guys, I'm skipping 2 classes (one only meets once a week, so its like skipping a week of class...) and my parents are pretty pissed that I'm going. But whatever, its totally worth it!

Note: Picture to come later.

So how will we recognize fellow beekeeping squads? I would like to get pics of as many teams as possible. I expecially want to meet the legendary team Goddess. (not like that, I'm happlily married)

<smile> Well, you can always look up our pictures on the picture thread. We will be wearing t-shirts, but we probably won't *arrive* in them, as we're coming straight from work.

We'll figure it out.

Using Microsoft Mappoint and putting in the coordinates 42.0402 -88.0352
brings up an address at approximately 699 or 701 North Martingale Road. Schaumburg, IL 60173

Now, without actually seeing what's there, this could be off by a bit. Remember the payphone coordinates varied a bit from the actual locations.

Hopefully someone will be physically scouting it out ahead of time and letting us know what looks like an actual possibility.

edited to add city, State ZIP

Dude, I'm sure that with all the puzzles, all the coordinates, all the passwords and text markers we've figured out, where to go for a big gathering of Halo and ARG geeks, won't be hard to figure out! Razz

I'm pretty up on my skills. Note that I'm not saying I'm great, I'm just at the highest level I've been at in a while.

I've actually got a small chance to test my skills before heading to chicago. One of the guys I met during the axon hunting (disciplen2k) is hosting a lan at his house. I've never played with any of the guys before so I'll be interested to see how I fair...

Yeah, if you want to see a rather disturbing pic of Kali go look in the medical thread. Right there in the middle... It's kinda small, but with some imagination you can definitely see why the Goddesses should be treated kindly...

As for Phaedra I have no idea where her pic is...

If you are FLYING into Chicago DONT fly into Midway, fly into O'Hare its a 15 minute drive to Woodfield from O'hare its an hour or so from Midway, probably much longer in traffic.

Airtran flies ONLY into Midway from Atlanta, and it's the cheapest: $187 round trip.

It's cheaper because Midway is like 500 miles from anywhere you would want to be.
