What the hell are you talking about? They specifically stated that they were going to (heavily paraphrased) not explain everything. From the way they stated it, I feel that it's heavily implied that most of these unexplained elements of MH will be the supernatural occurrences, and yes, most definitely The Operator. In fact, unless I'm terribly mistaken, I assume that most people would agree that this would detract a lot from what makes The Operator a mysterious entity of evil, something which adds, well and easily argued, on to the psychological horror, no matter how sickened you are of this argument.
On the other hand, if they don't explain a little about what it's doing with "victims" then there's no horror there. The Operator has never shown itself to be an actual threat to anyone. The intention that it should be somehow threatening is only truly carried out through OOG interviews. Knowing at least a little about what it's doing if not why would go a LONG way to cementing the horror aspect of the series.

Of course, and I also believe this will tie in with the Ark somehow. What they won't do, and shouldn't, is create a/multiple MH universe general explanation(s)(think midichlorians, and how shitty that was); this includes in-depth explanations about the phenomenon occurring as well as the true form of said objects and events (including The Operator).

They may perhaps make remarks about the circumstances, such as The Operator's influence, but they won't go "durrrr, yeah, his alien superpowers give him the ability to change our brainwaves and affect bodily functions and cerebral constructs, and such powers are used to gain knowledge of the human race so that he may blah blah..."

The ridiculous hyperbole aside, it's just fucking stupid, and I believe against the nature of MH.

I agree here too. "He's fucking eating our memories, man!" is a little more in line with MH. With a TTA explanation of "Watching. Always watching. You can't win.(Seemingly random number spam)"

yeah, but if they end it with a ton of cliffhangers then everyone's going to hate it. and i know it's not about the end it's about the ride there, but in a slender series, you really gotta end it properly if you want it to spread through word of mouth. if people are saying not to watch it cause the ending sucks, then their friends won't, and that's potential dvd sales going bye bye right there

Definitely true, and it makes for a hard task of writing. No doubt there will be closure, but as I've said, I'm just referring to stupid technical details which, in the end, not many people care about. On top of this I'm sure there will be a few unexplained things which irk people, but they'll most likely patch up the main missing pieces of the plot and bring it to a finale.

Far as I'm concerned they can leave it all a mystery. I don't want to find out that the Operator is actually just magic bacteria or some such shit.

If they only find a way to get rid of the sickness and not defeat the operator or at least get him out of their lives, i'll be pretty annoyed

I don't need to know where he came from, but I do want to know his motive and what can be done to prevent him from bothering you

I don't, and I think it would be weaker if they revealed that. The complete lack of ostensible motive and escape is part of what makes him so scary; there's a sense that it could happen to anyone. The minute you give your audience a motive for your villain, they start to rationalize ways that it couldn't ever happen to them, and that removes some of the fear.

Horror is its strongest when there is no concrete understanding of the antagonist.

i feel like they have to reveal his motive though after showing things like him cleaning up bodies for alex and showing up to jay in the hotel and stuff

like... not telling us why he's bothering these people is just leaving a huge part of a potentially cool story out. knowing why he's doing things doesn't make him any less creepy imo

without it, the story will be very simple and one-dimensional. thing bothers kids at a young age, it infects them and ruins their lives, end story

You do realize that all of this is building to answering those very questions, right?

I realize that I hope that they don't get too technical with any aspect of the Operator. I always liked the idea of him being incomprehensible to human beings.

I'll agree with this to a point... I just feel after 62 fucking entries its about time the agenda of the protagonist is explained at some level. The Operator doesn't need a full explanation-but I stick by my guns that "Oh he's scary being whatever" doesn't hold. The main questions that need to be answered by the time MH ends are these in my opinion (Feel free to add in):

#1. What is the Operator's goal, and what is the relationship he has with Alex and Tim.
#2. Why did the Operator disrupt the filming of Alex's movie.
#3. Who is Hoody and who is TTA.
#4. How does the main participants move on after the series ends.

The series finales have given us some basic answers: Alex was still alive in season 1 and season 2 Alex wanted J dead because of being controlled. Oh and of course Tim is masky.

But with every advancement of the storyline we get two additional doors of mystery opened. That needs to stop. Look at the other major Slenderman series-Everyman Hybrid and TT. Both have literally gone insane with the amount of characters, Twitter accounts, cross overs and utter bullshit that it's to the point were you can't follow it anymore. At Least MH does keep it simple-Two Youtube's and a twitter.

Ugh, midi-chlorians... "Yes, the Operator isn't just some esoteric being, he's a series of tiny cells that make up fear. And fear is a tall man in a business suit."

I gotta admit, "Fear is a tall man in a business suit" would be a pretty bitchin one-liner.
