Wasn't Atlas "buried, then forgotten"?
Still getting this ..crazy self aware AI on a planet...vibe. To tie it into the revolution, maybe LISA was involved in the 2260 revolution ( i could be off on the year) and is starting to remember?

I wouldn't of. Even though UnF is OOG, it would ruin the element of the ARG. To me, giving the job to one of us would be breaking the reality of the game.

Not half bad. Perhaps Horizon formatted her and kept using her after she was used by the revolutionaries? Meaning she wasn't breached as much as accessing old subroutines (aka memories) which maintenance attempted to delete a few days back, but lost a lot of other memories in the process.

**Welcome to Horizon Industries.**

I am not having any odd feelings, other than the fact that I do not remember recording a certain audio file that was distributed by one of my routines.

Just throwing out ideas, but is it possible that ALICE could have recorded and sent out that message? I'm pretty sure I read a few pages back that both AIs share the same voice.

For me, not so much. Hale was interested in getting one of us on the inside and to me that's all it would have been: "Hey guys, I'm in. I'll start feeding you what I can."

EDIT:

Possibly, but ALICE is a ship board, navigational AI and doesn't have the resources available to her as LISA does.

Hmm, got nothing. No phone call (I can imagine that, being from the Netherlands) No email.

So I mailed her. To see where I stand.

[edit:] Darn, She's fast. 3 minutes later an email with the audio file.

[edit2] She really is fast. I emailed back if the decision makers could be convinced to alter their minds. And if not. If she could tell me who was selected. Of if there was even anyone selected.

Her 'within the minute' reply was"

The selected individual is already en route to Atlas.

That sounds logical imo, a player simply receiving a contractual agreement & a "proper security clearance" with Horizon stating specific details would follow. Also, am starting to agree with Distraction that there could be something "self-aware" on ATLAS.

Well, I emailed her to ask where she was physically located and she immediately replied with a mail:

I wonder if the Atlas center houses a previous version of LISA...

EDIT: This theory has been disproven.

I have been looking for just that. Earlier versions of LISA. A long shot I know. I found this http://lisa.sourceforge.net/
Obviously OOG since the developer, YOUNGDE, registered back in 2010

In the download section the information can be found. It has been there very long.
Link to download: http://sourceforge.net/projects/lisa/?source=directory

I did send the links to LISA asking her about it.
She's not so fast responding though. But Since it's obviously OOG I wonder if she will.

I agree! But then why isn't there anything in the audio file that was sent out? Were any pictures or anything sent as well? I know that pictures can be used to transmit messages eg stenography. From what I've read, however, is that no pictures were sent. I also did some reading and found that
Quote:
Modern steganography entered the world in 1985 with the advent of the personal computer being applied to classical steganography problems.[4] Development following that was slow, but has since taken off, going by the number of "stego" programs available: Over 1,100 digital steganography applications have been identified by the Steganography Analysis and Research Center.[5] Digital steganography techniques include:
Concealing messages within the lowest bits of noisy images or sound files.
Concealing data within encrypted data or within random data. The data to be concealed are first encrypted before being used to overwrite part of a much larger block of encrypted data or a block of random data (an unbreakable cipher like the one-time pad generates ciphertexts that look perfectly random if one does not have the private key).
Chaffing and winnowing.
Mimic functions convert one file to have the statistical profile of another. This can thwart statistical methods that help brute-force attacks identify the right solution in a ciphertext-only attack.
Concealed messages in tampered executable files, exploiting redundancy in the targeted instruction set.
Pictures embedded in video material (optionally played at slower or faster speed).
Injecting imperceptible delays to packets sent over the network from the keyboard. Delays in keypresses in some applications (telnet or remote desktop software) can mean a delay in packets, and the delays in the packets can be used to encode data.
Changing the order of elements in a set.
Content-Aware Steganography hides information in the semantics a human user assigns to a datagram. These systems offer security against a non-human adversary/warden.
Blog-Steganography. Messages are fractionalized and the (encrypted) pieces are added as comments of orphaned web-logs (or pin boards on social network platforms). In this case the selection of blogs is the symmetric key that sender and recipient are using; the carrier of the hidden message is the whole blogosphere.
Modifying the echo of a sound file (Echo Steganography).[6]
Secure Steganography for Audio Signals.[7]
Image bit-plane complexity segmentation steganography
Including data in ignored sections of a file, such as after the logical end of the carrier file."

It's that last bit of the steno stuff that I'm wondering about: Echo Stenography and Secure Stenography for Audio Signals.

It's been too long since I've used Steno techniques (and I've never used audio steno at all) that I don't remember how to pull out the appended data without knowing the file name(s) prior to it.

EDIT:

Just out of curiousity, I asked LISA a little bit about her past:

Quote:
Akiva

LISA, how many versions of your programming are there?

LISA

I am currently running version 2.27. That is the only current version.

Akiva

How many previous versions of your programming are there?

LISA

One-hundred and twenty-six official previous builds, with multiple beta patches and test builds as well.

Waiting to hear back if any of those versions were ever used on Atlas.

On Tuesday I emailed Akamu

Are you having luck gaining support for the cause? Traveling through space sounds so exciting. I've always wondered what slipspace travel is like. Speaking of the cause, how should we contact the supporters here on Earth, or will the guide cover this? What if I can't make it in person? Will there be other ways I can show support online?
You should know Horizon has been reaching out to a lot of people and seems to be close to filling the Atlas position. They definitely want to find something with this listening post on Atlas. They may already know WHAT it is, just not WHERE it is. We will have to be patient I guess. One wrong move and our house of cards will come crashing down.
How did Jones' meeting with Sparrow go btw?

Finally got a reply today
Akamu wrote:
Hello, friend.

I have just arrived at Pax and am scheduled to meet with President Culton this afternoon. I am enjoying some lunch, or what I can keep down of it, anyway. Slipspace travel is not fun, unless you enjoy projectile vomiting and, well, I'll leave the rest out.

View the guide as your first glimpse at what the Union is really like. I do not know what Horizon tells you, if anything. The section regarding Earth will contain the name of the revolutionaries. I do not know what remains of them, but they do exist. Do not worry...from my understanding, it is their belief that meeting in person would alert the Aegis too easily, so they prefer to communicate through the intranet.

I have been made aware that the position has been filled. It was not one of you, it seems. That is unfortunate, but it is just one missed opportunity. However, what Atlas is listening for does concern me.

As far as Jones and Sparrow, the meeting went well, you could say. The gears are in motion for an extension to the Horizon Act. Our hope must be that Horizon does not exist by the time it kicks in.

Maybe I skipped over something by accident, but has Pax been mentioned yet?
