People have already said that the twitter changes the context of the series, and as I've mentioned like a zillion times it adds way more depth to the story. To think that the twitter doesn't add context to the series is foolish, and to not see how much the twitter adds to the experience in general is foolish.

I kind of get this. The first 10-15 entries of MH are pretty brutally bad, IMO. Luckily they're mostly really short. I don't really think MH gets good until Jay starts investigating the house. That's like, what, #18?

Hm. Maybe I'm different then. When I first watched Entry 1, I was hooked, wanting to know more about this thing in Alex's yard. Maybe it was because I only had cursory knowledge of Slender Man at the time is the key. Now that Slender Man is more well-known, people aren't as curious about what makes him tick.

Then again I ran into two people online last night that had never heard of him. I think I actually used the words "How long have you been on the internet?"

I think the sad part though is that I couldn't convince her that MH came out before Slender. Her response was something like "How could it if I never heard of it?" Timestamps on the entries didn't seem to help. "Could've been hacked."

I think I just ended up talking to somebody that just isn't that bright.

Well, then call me foolish. I don't need the twitter to understand and follow the story. I follow the twitter because I think it's neat to roleplay and interact with a fictional character. I even troll Jay in character, because it amuses me. It doesn't change the context of the series for me. It's just a means to get a heads up on when new entries are coming in universe. This is a great tool for those who don't follow Troy's out of character twitter where he posts the unspoilery screenshots. The tweets on the MH twitter are just like the unspoilery screenshots. Nothing more.

She's trying to tell you in a nice way that she doesn't give a shit about Marble Hornets and does not want to watch it. Take the hint, guy. Razz

Nah, I think she's just derp. I told her I remember my cousin having My Little Ponies when she was a kid and this same girl up here couldn't be convinced that they were around that long ago.

Besides: "Sorry I'm not interested." is much more direct and polite than "I refuse to believe what you're telling me."

Well then she's just being bitchy. Disregard her opinion.

Is that some kind of bad joke? Enttry 37 would have been so out-of-context without those tweets,

Uh, no it wouldn't have. Entry 38 explained that Jay did not post enttry 37, so we know it was someone hacking his account. Again. Boom, context.

let alone the entire "waking up at the red tower" thing.

Which has not been mentioned or explored sense, and ended with Jay getting back to the status quo as though nothing had happened at all. It was filler. Personally I prefer the radio silence to stuff like that. Jay's got his situation to worry about, Tim has a job and life, so if we don't hear from 'em for any given period of time, that being the explanation as to why is just fine with me.

It's pretty clear to me that at least one of you has no idea what "canon" even means.

I wasn't saying the tweets were necessary to the story. I said they were a great fanservice and it only adds to the story, not detracts. refusing to keep up with the tweets is basically them being lazy, and i don't see how anyone can disagree with that with how long it takes to make a tweet and how awkward it is that jay went by 3 weeks without telling us that him and tim were working together

If they're simply being used as a means of filler content until they can film the stuff that they planned then yes, that does detract from the quality of the narrative, and they shouldn't do it.

No it isn't.

Course tired of people randomly saying they see things in video.

I love the tweets. Whenever Jay tweets, I get just as excited as when he posts an actual video.

Are they crucial to the story? No.
Are they a good way to keep fans interested? Yes.

Following Marble Hornets along with the Twitter and TTA makes the experience so much better. Even though they are not needed, it's foolish to say that they don't help the viewer enjoy the series.
