 		Aw man...when i read some of the comments in here iīm not sure who is more ignorant and atm it doesnīt look good for the older Slenderman fans (especially the ones that act like hipsters).
And for all those schoolboys/-girls: Instead of constant ranting about the "ignorance" of your schoolfellows about Slendys background you can ask your teacher if you can make an oral presentation about it. Thatīs a good way to kill 2 birds with a stone as you can get a good mark and show the others the origins of Slenderman, so that their interest in it gets further into it then just for the game.

But in all seriousness...as good a game as it may be, it's introduced fucking idiots to the slenderman. It may not be so noticeable here, but places like SN and tumblr have been hit pretty hard by morons introduced by the game. Not a week goes by at school where I'm not asked if I've "played slenderman yet".

It's fucking annoying. And more publicity is just going to make it worse.


You're right. It's much better that the talent on display here and around the mythos goes unrecognized because some kids at your school don't know enough about The Slender Man for you to deem acceptable. We're all new fans at some point. And not everybody needs to enjoy it the same way you do.

If they don't know much about the character or the mythos and would like to, show them. Educate them. Or point them to the proper channels for said education. As has been suggested, give a presentation when the opportunity presents itself.

For those that don't know much about the mythos and don't want to, that's also fine. It doesn't make them the wrong kind of fan and you the right kind.

This rampant hipster-syndrome that's on display by not only you, but a lot of folks these days, is attributed to two things: egotism and insecurity. You found it before all the people did, and you know much more about it than them, so if they don't want to ingest in all the media you have then fuck them. It's yours, not theirs.

And you blame this all on a game. A well-made game, created with modest means and an ambitious goal. A game that has greatly surpassed the scope of the target audience. A game that's introducing a whole new audience to this creation we love so much. But people like you think that if every last one of these people don't immediately enjoy it the way you do, they're wrong. If they, God forbid, ask someone like you about The Slender Man because they clearly have limited knowledge of it, fuck them. They should already have known.

My friend I'm working on a project with now has reservations about creating a Slender Man series because of this sense of entitlement that so many people are displaying. "Let's change the creature. Let's make our own so we don't have to worry about these people getting their panties in a bunch."

Kindly take your bullshit over to 4chan and stop making the rest of us look like self-centered hipsters.

 		Would it be at all possible to get a new thread made specifically for this never-ending debate, so that this one can be reserved for discussion of the actual game?

Would that even be a good idea? Should we have a proper space to vent and discuss the ongoing evolution of the fandom?

Well, at the risk of being seen as throwing fuel on the fire, it's kind of one guy starting every single argument. I don't see the need to create a whole separate thread that, while several people might hold the opinion, is mostly just to accommodate the behavior of one guy. If that one guy wants to make a thread, however, more power to him.

I've been trying to stay out of the hostilities, because I think it's kind of rude, but Jesus, enough is enough. No one can post anything here without it somehow being connected back to the newfags ruining Slenderman.

Seriously. I don't get why you think I've issued a fatwa against you or something.
There are fucking morons who know nothing and dont WANT to know anything beyond the game that have been creeping into otherwise decent centres for the slenderman fandom. I reserve the right to be annoyed that I have to deal with these morons on an almost daily basis. At no point have I said I do not approve of the game itself. The game is great. But the people who play it and recognise it as the only slenderman content out there are dicks, ok?

So now we've cleared that up, stop being a melodramatic fuck. I've not called for anyone to die, disrespected your gods or in any way done anything inflammatory that you should particularly care about.

He dislikes that the game has brought some arguably negative attention, I don't see why it's a big deal. It's accurate, the game has brought both positive and negative attention.

Also, he tried to stop all this useless dramatic nonsense. I don't see why you continued to word wall after it, cut it out, this is silly.

yup. the copyright agreements state we cant make money out of slendy (not including advertising in vlogs and blogs, I guess) because victor surge presumably has stuff in mind.

 		I just had my first "kid whose never heard of slenderman plays slender moment" at a debate tournament the other day. He told me Marble hornets was boring and should be taken off youtube for copying slender.
