EDITED

You guys are awesome. Weephun, I'm sorry I couldn't get the campaign propaganda printed up for you... hey everyone, if you love Lt. weephun enough to send him to San Francisco, I hope you love (or have loved) him enough to cast your vote for him! IMO his would be kind of a puppet government, but who cares? Hell, I'd vote for you IRL, dude.

Dude, you seriously even get $5 of what I've got left if you promise to bring the suit Very Happy

It is uncomfortable for me to have to say this, but...

I understand how frustrating it must be to be unable to attend the events, but I must ask people not to request financial help. Giving to weephun was, I think, a special exception for most beekeepers -- he didn't ask, and it was a burst of spontaneous generosity toward someone that has been a very active member of the forums, gotten lots of press time, and been (I think) unfairly kicked around for his involvement in the SP's capture.

NOT that you all aren't special as well -- but I think that if we set up Help Funds because people request help, we're going to get a lot more people who also need and want help. Where are we all supposed to draw the line? How do we decide who "deserves" to go and who doesn't?

I don't think there's a whole lot of money to go around here.

But I cannot in good conscience give to anyone else and then deny the requests that will inevitably follow, and neither can I (or anyone else around here) afford to finance all the beekeepers who deserve to go. So I'm going to put my money where I think it will benefit the greatest number of people.

I am truly sorry if you're unable to attend and I wish they'd decided to hold a greater number of events.

Don't forget to save some for getting souveniers for other good beekeepers who can't make it also.

I understand; I was never under that impression but I can see how it looks like I was, er, unduly soliciting. Post edited.

I get a funny feeling they smile on us more than just there...

Does anybody know who this Jaw person is?

As Melissa or Durga would say, "I take care of my people."

That's a very...good...question. Whoever it was never messaged Kali, posted, or anything. Santa came early? Durga-claus? Because $100 seems like a lot for a random person on the forum to donate, especially someone who's not part of the regular posting group...

Well, whoever it was, you are amazing.

Kali mentions that she is particularly proud that (and wants to mention) that we hit the mark even without Jaw's amazing contribution, so once again, you all rock.

EDIT: I just searched and it appears that Jaw is a real person, from Europe, and not a PM. He (or she) is doubly cool.

Yah, Jaw initially PMed me offering to pay the entire amount. After checking to make sure I hadn't been dreaming when I read that, I told him that was not necessary as others had already started to contribute and I didn't want to waste anybody's money or kindness by overshooting just what I needed. He apparently then must have checked how much was still lacking at the time and donated accordingly.

Either way, yes, he is amazing, and yes, you all rock!!

Wow.

What an incredible community.

Damn time zones - I would have been happy to contribute £10 to this to help Weephun out (and so that I could take part by proxy.)

Absolutly stunning result that leaves me feeling good about the world.

Thanks to all that contributed.

And to Weephun - have fun for me! Meephun!

Sam.

Is The Bruce going to make it to one - another very deserving beekeeper.
