Really odd question but: is the Gameworks a big arcade? Oh yeah, a Friday update could help sort out all the questions we may have, unless the Sunday update will be the holy grail. And by the way, all you Chicago goers, I got dibs on complimentary cheetos! Razz

Well, I talked to my parents, and they are letting me go! I'm so excited!! The only foreseeable problem is if I were to miss the flight. Since my dad is a pilot, we don't have confirmed seats until literally minutes before the flight leaves, so I could still possibly miss it, but the flight isn't very crowded so the odds are slim.

Ah, the joys of stand-by. Used that to get to Paris and back for a 3 week backpacking trip. Only spent $200 on the flight. Went to NY for my birthday and got hooked up with first class. *sigh* Those were the days.

Gameworks:

Imagine a big huge warehouse-style building, sectioned off into seating areas, bars, and then big rooms with all sorts of arcade games. Virtual reality stuff, drivers, luck/chance pachinko-style machines, photo booths, pinball, DDR ...

I think it's still the case that you 'charge' a card with credits to play games, there.

I am not entirely sure the Chicago event is at the Gameworks. I mean, I noticed in chat the other night right away that it was there, but then, so is the Loews Theatre, so ...

Yeah, I am gonna try to get there as soon as I can after work so I can try to find it. I am worried about not making it there in time, even though I am leaving work early.

Also, keep in mind that the games there are a bit more expensive than in a usual movie theater or mall arcade. Of course, they've got great variety so it's worth it.

I'm pretty sure it'll be at the Loews Theatre. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Halo 2 trailor that sent everyone to ilovebees was only shown on Loews screens. Plus, the contest in NY is advertised as taking place at a Loews.

(after typing loews so many times Kali believes she can hear cows in the distance. ick)

I saw The Bourne Supremacy and the Manchurian Candidate at that theatre over the summer in hopes of catching the Halo 2 trailor.

I haven't played for months -- basically I've always borrowed Kali's xBox. I think I've had it almost as much as she has. Smile Just (and I mean just) got my own. And from what we've SPEC'd, it may be harder in Halo 2 to use our settings (Legacy and Boxer).

Stupid Perfect Dark, getting me used to those settings.

I also use the Legacy setting, although it was Goldeneye that screwed me. But Bungie did say that Boxer would be back and I wouldn't worry about the analog setup either. I'm sure it will be there.

IIRC, it was only shown with one movie. I remember this only because I almost went to see the movie, even though I wasn't interested in it and had little money, just so that I could see the trailor.

' Developed by Hollywood production house The Ant Farm and running through August, the trailer will play before the summer's hottest flicks, including "Spider-Man 2," "The Village," "King Arthur," "I, Robot," "Catwoman" and "Alien vs. Predator." '

Making this trip?

Is it possible to make this trip in a car that will take 3 fill ups on mid-grade gas with only $108? I need some info on gas prices up north and such to see how much this trip is going to run me. I am on a very tight budget, and this trip is going to take me all the money I have. I have gotten yelled at by my girlfriend for making this trip, which she calls "insane for a game"

P.S. if there is anyone in the region who needs a ride (i.e. anyone on the way from Chattanooga,TN to IL) feel free to pm/im me, the more the merrier, and the cheaper it will be if everyone chips in.

Prices south of Chicago, here in Joliet, just crested to 2.06 a gallon for regular grade...odds are good it will climb to at least 2.15 or more in the immediate chicago are, again for regular grade.

Buy your gas before you get within 50 miles of chicago and you'll save a migraine or two.

Ya, standby can be good (like getting first class for free, etc), but I don't like traveling at all. We travel so much it gets boring. Then two summers ago, we were visiting Hawaii right before schools started, for a quick 3 day trip. The problem was, everyone else was also. The flights to get home were sooo full, we were stuck in Hawaii for over a week. I know what you are thinking, "[sarcasm]Yeah, stuck in Hawaii, I bet that's bad[/sarcasm]." Sitting in an airport from 5am to 11pm every day for a week isn't much fun. Anyways, it looks like these flights are pretty empty, so odds are I'll make it, but I won't know until about 12:40pm on Nov 4, about 5 minutes before the flight leaves.
