[META] Send Help! An Underage Beekeeper's Plea

Beekeepers, hello. My name is rRootage, also occasionally seen as TheDrinkNinja. I've been following ILB since the kickoff in July, and am in desperate need of help with the mission on the 4th.

I made my request on the list for the Chicago exercise, and was accepted, but Melissa didn't acknowledge the part I put in about being underage (16). Another E-Mail helped this, but the response wasn't too pleasant.

Quote:
War is dangerous, soldier.
Enlisted crew members under the age of 17 must be accompanied in
person by their legal guardian. ID of both the underage crew member
and legal guardian will be checked.
If you are able to secure the attendance of your legal guardian at the
event, please reply with the guardian crew member's name so I can add
it to my list.

This is killer. The thing is, my grandpa is going into surgery on the 1st, and my parents are likely going to be busy watching him. Even if they were available, I would like neither of them to be subjected to the extent of my excitement over this. On top of that, transportation is an issue, as I live far south of Chicago, and while I would be willing to drop the money for a Taxi there and back, I'd really like to not drop that many zeros for the ride. Summarized, here is what I'm looking for and would greatly appreciate as far as planning.

1. Figure out a way to convince the parents to come, and/or gain access via alternate routes (I tired suggesting papers signed by the "commanding officer", to no avail).

2. Gain transportation from my house in Olympia Fields
URL's got back

To the exercise here.
I like big URLs and I cannot lie

Ideally, I'd like not to have to spend more than 50 dollars to get there and back, but will do whatever I can to go. Any mode of transportation is good, but the earliest I could start my exodus would be about 12:30. (School.)

Anyone who can assist me in this process will become my Best Friend™, and if I can find you at the Chicago exercise, will get these little bee statues that I bought.

Thanks in advance for all you have done for this lowly beekeeper, and I (hope) to see you all at the exercise!

Ouch, soldier. I wish you luck, and congrats on being so close to a training exercise AND convincing Melissa to let you go provided you get parental accompaniment (or otherwise). If you can get an adult beekeeper to help you out (so your parents don't have to be distracted further by halo 2 Razz ) you might consider having them sign a doc saying that you're under the care of such-and-such crewmember for the day. Kind of a release form.

Got an uncle or an aunt (a REAL one) who can pitch in? Much as many of the adults here could say "I'll watch you" - we don't know you, your parents don't know us, we could be axe murderers. If no 'rents are available, another close relative with a letter from your parents is the best I can suggest, and that may not even work. And I'd clear it with Melissa first.

Heh. No, I'm not asking for someone to by my adult. It's a neat idea, but I didn't suggest it as it's too dangerous. Another snafu has been added, as one of my friends is now involved with this, but he's sixteen too. Maybe he'll have better luck, but his parents work days too. Suggestions are now fully accepted.

Man. This is killing me. Having Halo 2 within arms length but being stopped by a single year.
