Ending a Slending exit strategies and such and forth Semi-triggered by the EMH thread: from what I've seen of Slendervlogs, they seem to either peeter out early on, or have a half-life, where they keep going but update less and less often.
I'm sort of curious now as to whether there've been any SlVlogs that ended "properly", how they worked it and how well it went, and/or views on how these things should end (if at all).
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
PS, if you're worried about me stealing any of your ideas, don't worry, I won't. I mean, I might, but only if they're rrrrrrrlly good. :)Nah, but srsly, I have a pretty good handle on how I'm ending my thing.
Also, related question: if a SlVlog ends, how bad is it for people from it to show up in other projects as different, unrelated characters? I'm assuming it kicks your immersion in the teeth at first, but then I watched a movie that starred the guy who played Josh in The Blair Witch Project, and it didn't ruin Blair Witch for me to know that he was both an actor and not dead.

Re: Ending a Slending exit strategies and such and forth Well, I've talked to the creator of TribeTwelve about how he plans to end his series and...

...he says what he's planned for the conclusion is fantastic, a bittersweet(?) ending.
I dunno how he could possibly pull it off, but I have faith in the guy. Personally, I'm really friggen excited to see how he ends it all.

If you want to see a series ending, there was my first one. http://www.youtube.com/user/SadTheDevil
It was abrupt, and all in all, accidental. But it kinda worked. Hardly answered any questions.

Angel's Game and TJAProjects both sort of had final episodes. I say "sort of" because both stories continued in other vlogs later on, but they potentially could have ended there, although it would have left a lot of unanswered questions.

AfraidAtHome never dropped its pace and was a succinctly executed plot.

Some possible endings:
"The protagonist dies/disappears abruptly."
This can work if the writer uses foreshadowing to lead up to the disappearance.
As a reader, I get annoyed if it just suddenly ends, and I'm left hanging with all these questions. It can be seen as an easy escape for the writer.
It's also REALLY annoying when the creator deletes their blog/vlog entirely.
"Happily ever after/happy for now"
I do remember reading a stand-alone story that used this. The protagonist confronted the slenderman and warded him off.
Surprisingly, this ending worked - mainly because it was well-written. It also kept some realism in there, as the protagonist was still affected by the horror they had witnessed.
"Tale of a lone survivor."
This is when the story is being recounted by someone who witnessed the events and survived - like Dracula. Often a lot of their friends get killed off along the way, and they're writing it as a warning to the readers.
I think I prefer this ending, because it leaves open the possibility that the monster can still get them, but there's more of a solid conclusion.

There was that one blog about that police officer or whatever - instead of posting his final video since he died , it was anonymously sent it to a bunch of other series to post instead. That was really clever.

When you end a series, you should make sure you tie up most of the loose ends. I'm ending my series by answering as many questions I can without making it seem like fanservice, including one storyline people probably aren't expecting to go anywhere.

Also, I
wish
want
need
greatly desire for the current creators to not end with a generic horror story cop out ending. I want something original, something scary. We've seen that the creators are really good at creating an engaging story. I just hope that they can keep that up during the ending.

Oh, nothing, weird tangent from a conversation about Noah being pretty; I for some reason imagined the positive/bittersweet ending being that Slendy really just wanted to smooch Noah but couldn't. So they he'd probably give him some wax lips to stick on his non-face like in The Man With Two Brains and they'd kiss warmly and then skip off into the sunset.
I'm guessing that's probably not where he's going with it though.

No but seeing how Adam reads the forums, I wouldn't be surprised if he did that scene in a parody.

Awes!
I'm still curious about the other question though. Have there been any people from reasonably successful/known series who've gone on to make other series with themselves in not as the same character?

As far as another Slenderman related series? No.
But Troy, Joseph, and Tim from Marble Hornets make comedy videos on Troy's other youtube channel: troyhasacamera.
