[OT] EBGames "Midnight Madness" http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/ads/promos/halo2midnightmadness/
Is anyone planning on going to this? I was going to just drive over to the store (Redmond Town Center, Redmond, WA) that morning, but I thought it would be nice to meet some local beekeepers (since I've yet to met anyone other than those I work with).

I'm doing the Halo 1 tourney at the local GameCrazy, from 8 to midnight, then going to pick up the copy of H2 I have preordered at my EB. But I know of only one other EB doing a midnight madness, but it's a ways out of my way.

I'll be at my local Game Stop for a similar promo at midnight, too. Thank goodness my boyfriend's off both Monday and Tuesday. I somehow think we'll miss class on Tuesday... Then again, I think my TA will, too. Thank goodness for Astronomy nerd TA's.

I'm going to the GPstore nearby for the midnight launch. The guys from Microsoft NZ are going to be there in their big truck. Apparently it's the first launch in the world, being that we're 17 or so hours (give or take a couple, daylight savings confuses me) ahead of the US. I think that's about the only advantage of living here over being in the US.

I was considering going to the midnight sale of Halo 2 at my local gamestore (Gamestop - Waterworks, PA), but I was told about a month ago when I preordered the game that there were already 600 people to preorder it! That is a pretty high number considering the population size of that area, and it is probably even higher now. Dealing with big lines and excited kids has never been my thing though, so I will probably just get it after work the next day. I do have to give props to whoever is willing to go through all that for the sake of getting Halo 2 half a day earlier than most. I do have about 10 days to change my mind though.

I ordered my Halo 2:Special Edition online, but for an in-store pickup at my local EB Games. Saved shipping cost too! I plan to be there at midnight to get my copy. If you ordered the Special Edition from GameStop, read Mazian's post about a possible delay here .

the manager at my store told me the only way that you'll get your game at midnight is if you have it paid off completly, if not you better pay it off before they close for a while, or you'll have to wait until the store opens at 10am on the 9th.

I'll have to call my store and make sure it's safe to pay when I get there at midnight. Thanks for the heads up.

I actually have money down for my LE preorder at an EB's in the City but then I found out about the Times Square ToysRUs Launch Party... If it's anything like they did for the launch of the Xbox way back when then this will truly be the place to be at midnight. They're giving away the soundtrack, a couple of MC statues (actually one--I'm stealing the other).
Here's the link to the ToysRUs TS site--go to special events--scroll down to NOV 9...
http://www6.toysrus.com/timessquare/dsp_index.cfm
Here's the text from the site..
The epic saga continues. Toys "R" Us Times Square will become the center of the HaloŽ 2 universe at 12:01 am on November 9. Be among the first gamer to get your copy of this highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed HaloŽ: Combat Evolved.
Throughout the evening midnight madness will ensue with special guest appearances, and prizes will be awarded for gamers showing off their Halo 2 enthusiasm. A number of gamers will get an early hands-on experience with Halo 2 prior to the launch, and two lucky attendees will be selected to receive a full figure Master Chief statue. As an added bonus, any guest who purchases Halo 2 on the night of the event will receive a complimentary copy of the Halo 2 soundtrack*.
Pushing the Xbox hardware to its very limits, Halo 2 will expand on everything that made the original game great, plus add a wealth of technological and gameplay advances. Every improvement in Halo 2 is designed to take gameplay to a new level - and in the end, to tell a more compelling story.

I'll be at this one: Iroquois Building 3608 Forbes Ave in Oakland/Pittsburgh
The manager told me that you need a special ticket to get in though (can pick up at the store if any are left), and they're only selling 100 copies or until 2 AM, whichever comes first.

I just called my store, they said I'm guarenteed a copy and I can pay for it there at midnight. Looks like I'm all set. Good luck to everyone who's store is limiting copies.
