Very Happy

I started with that, and went from 1 to 7, I've made a google docs sheet, hope this link works Rolling Eyes

The password doesn't work, of course... but if anyone else can see something I'm not seeing you might fare better with it than I did Confused

Edit: what I got doesn't work backwards either.

Heh Wink no matter what I do I can't get it to work! Maybe because it's 3.30am here and I'm still banging my head off the computer screen, maybe I'll go for a sleep and find it's all solved in the morning Cool

I guess another question is does this boil down to just one single code, or a different code for each of the IDs we have?

I'm in denial about the possibility of more than one code... but that's what I initially thought.

I'm still of the more than one code mindset...but that's because of the clearance levels on the ID badges.
Have we figured out exactly what kind of cipher this is? Here's a random thought: instead of trying to solve the grid, maybe we should take it line by line once we are sure of the key...kinda like a vigenere cipher. We needed the grid to get the key..and once we have the key, then take the line corresponding to the clearance level..and use the key to solve it?

I hope this makes sense. It's been one long 13 hour day.

Quadrant, half and third. That part is tripping me up. What's left when you take away those three?

So I figured I'd throw in my two cents, it's not getting me very far though.

I've backtracked a bit to the passcode on the wow! page from when Adam was arrested, when we used Roman numerals to break in to Tanner's dropbox. I've been trying to see if there are any patterns that can be made out with the same characters used in roman numerals, hoping that maybe they are the 'special characters.' Those would be:

I V X L C D M

It hasn't really lead me anywhere though, other then seeming to line up with the "first character is the easiest to decrypt" line, since the 1 surround by Is works.

I'm doubting this is the correct line of thought, but I'm tossing it out there anyways.

Lines and columns?

I am in the one-passcode-corner these days, since there has been no mention at all about passcodes in pluralis. Also, it was the columns that were named a, b, c, d etc, and we moved away from the idea that each column holds a passcode.

I like the idea that we find the "key" in one specific part of the grid, and after that it's just application.

Also, "distinct" in the loosest sense of the word!

Edit: Why do they keep calling it the 7-characters instead of the 7 characters? First "find the 7-characters she needs for the passcode", and then "use each of the seven characters". What's with the hyphen?

Edit 2: How 'bout this:
The "section" is the border, and the "special characters" is 1-7. No other numbers in the border section, nice and tight as follows:
