[PUZZLE - SOLVED] Flowers

New Command 'flowers' gives us a new puzzle, seemingly.

A picture of a kangaroo against a sunset, and the tagline

Quote:

It's just like Project Gateway. Not what you think.

(am i in the right game? Smile)

Subject is 'A flower for you?'

Could the Urban Hunt reference be part of the answer? Is this a stegged image? Are we looking for a command? Hmm...

is basically identical to the image on Project Gateway...therefore no hidden text or Stegged anything...for now.

Found on the net: Aussie Mega Styling Spray

Kangaroo paw is listed as an ingredient in this styling spray, but it's not what you think. Aussie brand is kind to animals. The picturesquely named kangaroo paw is a vividly colored, unscented flower from Down Under. The hair spray is uses kangaroo paw extract to advantage in a formula that gives good hold but is never sticky or stiff.

Nice, latecomer, that sounds perfect to fit in with the clues! A flower.. kangeroo.. not what you think..

I can't think where to use it though.. neither paw or kangeroopaw are commands. Hum hum.

Tried "anigozanthosflavidus", "anigozanthos", "anigozanthosmanglessi" which appear to be the scientific names for kangaroo paw (the plant). No luck.

There are 11 different varieties of Kangaroo Paw with the genus Anigozanthos according to the information I found.

And one plant that's closely related called "Black Kangaroo Paw" with the scientific name Macropidia fulginosa.

Neither Macropidia, nor fulginosa, nor macropidiafulginosa worked.

There's been a small update to the Flowers page:

Quote:

Be scientific about it.

The image of the kangaroo has not changed today. I've done a file-comparison of the kangaroo.jpg versus the image I found in the wild. The file compare tool returns the following results:

Code:
Line 32 Changed: AçsŠÎ¸ñ&‡ÖmFN89ÿ To: AçsŠÎ¸ñ&‡ÖmFN89ÿ

To my naked eye, those to lines look identical to me. The rest of the file is identical.

This proof that there is NO MEANINGFUL CHANGE in this file leads me to the conclusion that there is nothing hidden in the image.

Be scientific

The flower page was updated to add

"Be Scientific About It"

So I have tried every scientific name in the book and nothing.
flavidus
anigozanthos manglesii
commelinids
haemodoraceae
plantae
magnoliophyta
anigozanthos flavidus
anigozanthos

Just for completeness I will note here that the answer was "anigozanthus".

Damn, you guys were close. Bang Head

And the solve on that page leads here: http://home.comcast.net/~projectgateway/amaranthus.htm

...which contains RoseThorns key.
