Well, two things:

One: I'm planning to head into NYC to see the Christmas Spectacular anyway. However, I'm not sure what the timeframe is going to be, so this brings me to:

Two: If the timeframe for the Christmas Spectacular trip in doesn't permit me to attend the CTE, and there are Beekeepers heading down from further north, AND I can arrange to be dropped off at either the Trailways bus station or the Hudson Valley Mall in Kingston that day, is there anyone willing to give me a lift down? (Ill chip in for gas, if need be.)

And if that's a no-go, then Three: I'll just sit on the sidelines, and wait for a report (and if there's any swag, please nab some for me!).

If you take a Train to Pent. Station what is the best way to get to the event and back from there. Also if you list an idea could you list a price?

Thanks.

The event is only four or five blocks from Penn Station. Just walk! (and it's free!)

its not "a Few Blocks"

From Penn Station which is on 31st and 7th avenue, its about 6 blocks east "which are the long blocks" then 9 south. It would be at my normal pace, and i walk around the city 5 days a week would be about a half hour to 40 minutes.

your best bet for getting there is to walk to 23rd street and for 2 bucks take the crosstown bus to 2nd avenue.

I'm really getting excited. In less than a week we will have fulfilled our mission duties. This is going to be great.

Looks like I'll be headed up to NYC after all. But I do need to know... are we doing a ILB Dinner before hand or something? I'd be up for it, but I need to know so I know when to arrive.

how many people do you think will be attending this event that don't coem to these forums? Should we try to add b.net attendees to the list as well?

Also, walking across manhattan really doesn't take too long. If the weather isn't bad, and you want to save two bucks, totally go for it (walking from Penn station to 2nd ave that is). But a bus is nice because it's aboveground, if there is indeed a crosstown bus there (I wouldn't know, I'd have to check the MTA map), and the subway also goes there, but you have to make some transfers and it might take a little while longer and be a bit of a hassle.

I suppose if we want to do something before hand we should probably coordinate it so we know when to arrive. I will be getting home at about 6, so the earliest I can get out there is about quarter to seven. I'm up for food and/or bar (maybe food, then a bar for anyone that can). We could all meet at the GPS coords at a certain time and then wander around until we find something maybe?

I'll be attending the event, also.

Just a few quick questions:

Is anybody certain of the address? I have tried several GPA->Address converters, and I'm getting different results.

And, should we all meet up in front of one place beforehand?

D'oh! I meant to post this a couple days ago, I mentioned it in chat and then promptly forgot.

I did some recon of the area on Wednesday, there is indeed a Loews Theater. I plan on getting there around 8pm, hopefully I can sign in and go grab a bite/drink before the Main Event. There are loads of bars and restaurants in the immediate area, I'm down for whatever. I'm also down with some drinkering afterwards with the 21+ crowd Very Happy

Parking is a b*tch in this neighborhood. If you don't mind walking a few blocks, there's usually parking on 1st Ave in the upper 30's, meters are in effect until 7pm. Otherwise there's tons of lots.

The movie theater is on 31st, not 23rd. From Penn Station, just walk straight down 31st until you hit 2nd Ave, you can't miss it. It's about a 25-30 minute walk, 15-20 minutes if you walk like a New Yorker Razz

Soudns good everyone. I say we all try to meet at the Theatre by 8 at the latest. If the theatre is not our exact location we can fan out and find it. With that said, we'll need mobile forms of communication. If you have a cell phone bring it. I'd also recommend bringing a pen and paper for writing numbers down unlees we coordinate that before hand.

I know this may be a little extreme, but I say we should be prepared to split up in case we are given a physical mission first.

I'd like to meet up with people before 8 though if possible.

Rhymeswithsausage and I will be leaving southern jersey by 4:45pm so that prolly will put us in the city by 6:30.

Let's all post times that we are expected to arrive in the city so that we can setup meeting times.

DeltinaWildfire and I should be arriving penn station at 5:18 if the train's on time. Then we probably gotta ditch our stuff at the hostel, not sure how long that'll take.
