I thought it might be some sort of coding for Chinese characters, given the theme of this gate, but I haven't been able to find anything.


Suggestions?


I'm quite sure this is the communication cypher Mata Hari referred to. It might be something base64 encoded, but I'm not sure, since I'm not good with such codes.

EDIT: All the letters seem to be in the range of a-f, which could mean that they are strings of numbers in hex. I'll crunch on that a while to see if I get anything out of it.

 		I emailed her back and said that our best and brightest were working on it. Wink I asked if she had any other information that she could give us at this time that might help us along.

I also wanted to note that in her email, the words "other tools" were bolded.

 		Don't forget the background image! The grid in the upper left corner...

The problem with it being straight hex is there would have to be additional encoding. It's not base64 this time.

 		It's a simple replacement cipher.

There might have been an easier way to solve this, but we used an old-fashioned style and did it like solving a crossword cryptogram. Huge thanks to my friend, who did almost all the hard work.

Maybe the image on the gate page with the hex numbers and the RGB colour things could have helped to reach the same conclusion.

The image on the gate page was a packet that made no sense to us, my friend was saying over and over "can I please just hack the datebase?" -__-
