[TRAILHEAD] Behind You Appears to be a genre mix of Steampunk, Lovecraft and Spy mystery... I got followed on Twitter today by @Behindyou_ (note the underscore on the end). I started reading his tweets, they are little strange and creepy in places.
Then he messaged me:
Definite coding at the end of Foilhead's last blog.
I won't be playing this however if you want me to add anything into this initial post just pm me.
PM's wiki site of the story so far: http://oneyearmuse.wikidot.com/totcm

One of the key points from the blog is that Project Valkyrie worked and we appear to be in an alternate timeline.

Run through a cryptogram solver
The gateway in this zone is 'Infernal Betrayer' and main page has 'Ahh Sid' which translates to 'The Bad'. The contents of the zone seems to be mostly about ancient bad and good guys so while the 'Ahh Sid' suggests something bad perhaps the 'Infernal Betrayer' adds to clarify the picture a little bit.
The key checker zip file is 496 which makes me think the password is made up of three words. Four letters, then nine letters and lastly six letters. I believe the contents to be immaterial, it's merely for you to check that you have the correct keys. I assume the keys are needed elsewhere within the archive, never assume I know but I think it is a good bet.
I think we are looking for people that are betrayers or have been betrayed. The first two are obvious purely based on the number of letters. Four lettered historical twonk supposedly burnt Rome to ground in A.D. 64 not hard really. Nine lettered historical twonk the ultimate betrayer at Thermopylae. The last one six letters had me stumped for awhile, the page that translates as: "Suetonius paid by Antony, 27 not 23, not 3,cremated quickly" drove me to distraction but all I had to do was remove what was not in evidence which reduced it to: "Suetonius Antony 23 cremated" using this as a Google search gave some possibilities, I removed the '23' which gave me a name and Wikipedia gave me the rest and his six letter surname popped out plus the four lettered twonk had the same name. Typed it in with capital first letters and space between each word, worked and proved I was right about the data held within.
*edit for update*

Sneaky Seadevil4. I was about to start a new thread on this when I noticed your post.
For those of you who don't know, this is a continuation of the Wallace P.I. mysteries. This is..what? The fourth part? I was only involved with the last part, which can be found here . At the end we kinda...destroyed the universe accidentally...so...let's hope this one goes better. There are so many links and emails that I'm not going to even bother posting them over here now. I'll update this post if any of them become relevant.
If you are new, don't worry about understanding all the Janus Archive craziness just yet. It seems like the only important things right now are Foilhead's blog and this Keyed Vigenere cipher in the most recent post:
I've tried a number of things, but no luck yet. The word "Paler" is notably bolded both times it appears (not including the "s" on the end).
It should be easy because it's obviously a url, but it's tricky because there's both an alphabet key and a passcode...
EDIT: Derp. Way to go spoonhead.

What?!? Foilhead? He's still around?
Huh, interesting. This immediately caught my attention.
Just to add to the fun, although this seems out of game (if indeed there IS a game) Foilhead also now seems to have a youtube playlist:
http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLD91F28A539662E21
Again, nothing here seems related to any sort of game, but it's still something I don't think he had before...

Hi! After you decipher that link like spoonhead(PROPS) it's savvy to check a "hindyoube42" comment containing a cipher (wtet://kxnjyia.czq/97wvecx) leading to a JPEG
Cipher solve and JPEG info
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Obviously, this is Behindyou's YT accn't with another Vigenére using the keyword "paler" that reads: http://tinyurl.com/97fgert
The JPEG is of Mary Ann "Polly" Nichols, one of the the Whitechapel murder victims.
Also, the Fay/Sarah mentioned in Foilhead's "Manuscript" blog entry may be an anecdotal reference to an alternate reality "Fairy Fay" .

DBL for NEW Info : @Foilhead's latest comment I rechecked the JPEG's EXIF data & found a link there to this H.P. Lovecraft forum: http://www.hppodcraft.com/forums/
ETA: JPHide shows the JPEG has not been modified tho it's possible the pic has other steganography. Am 100% Lovecraft ignorant so an clueless about any PW.

So...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
EB:RzpBJez2 decodes to PB:GvyMJtv2 using "paler" as the password, which leads to http://pastebin.com/GvyMJtv2 (there's an account associated with it too).
I thought "Annie" might refer to Annie Chapman of the Whitechapel murders, but the dates don't line up. Decoding the end of the pastebin (UB:Xcidvs) yields FB:Myrovh. This leads to a new facebook page .
The facebook page, among other things, contains a link to a weird image . And I'm not sure we are supposed to do this, but you can access the rest of seadevil4's account and see, among other things, the polly picture.
There seem to be some individual letters showing up along the way. Not sure if they mean anything yet, but I'll look into it.
EDIT: Oh, I just realized what you meant when you said Foilhead was helping, booba. I totally missed that before. If the stray letters are in fact important, it's probably a good idea to keep track of all of the messages, including the post in the Lovecraft forums (http://hppodcraft.com/forums/index.php?topic=180.90). Notably (or not), the end of that link, 180.90, also appears under this image from the photobucket: http://m1110.photobucket.com/albumview/albums/seadevil4/Palers/polly.jpg.html

Weird image Fuzzy's link I think is a wordpress site, all the scrambled words seem to translate to either "you" or "nine" (with the possible exception of calodzienny and niende )
http://9you.wordpress.com/ is a working site, but is in Arabic
OR maybe its just words and a press to make wordpress ?
Any thoughts?

Reckon you're right, Booba, esp. since that pic has been renamed 9.jpg LINK & now spouts a short cipher (Eaaii Erpwj). Also, Calodzienny is close to "daily" in Polish.

Again, it sounds like we've missed something. I can't make any sense of the stray letters, mostly because I'm not sure what order they go in or if we have them all. Is anyone else having any luck? Maybe the letters will spell out a wordpress url or something? I'm not sure what to do about the 9/you stuff...
Also, there's some file thing that has the same title and text as the pastebin link, but it's on a really sketchy site so I'm wary of downloading it: http://www.binseed.com/post/622008-wants-dark-muse.html

I'm sufficiently lost that I can't come up with a question that would help.
Anyone?
