Well speaking as someone who's been there, on both sides of it (having to be talked out of it and having to talk others out of it) I can say it's far from 'fascinating', but this isn't the place for that kind of discussion. Seeing something as burdensome/overbearing as constantly talking someone out of suicide (unless you're the kind of person with training in it, such as crisis lines) being used as a plot point just seems in very very poor taste.

For anyone who keeps playing, more power to you, but I'm unsubbing. Laters.

-hugs people-

Just because it's unsavory doesn't mean it isn't fascinating.

hmmm.. he gets killed already, so the only diversion on the book would be to let him live.. is that our task? to prevent him from being killed?

Gatsby cannot read these posts by the way. I created a software that makes the post's I create invisible to his weary eyes.

I am already starting a campaign for gatsby to mistrust the inventor..

I also think that one of us could become friends with the inventor to find out his motives, and to determine just why he wants misery for gatsby..

I think something happened in the past, possibly with his dad, but dont know yet the link with gatsby..

maybe the inventor is the son of the guy that killed gatsby in the future?
just fishing..

Gatsby posted the below on his blog:

Quote:
The weirdest thing happened today.

I was awoke this morning to the knocking at my door. I opened it up to see a young journalist with a notebook and writing object.

He said "Any comments Mr. Gatsby?"

I had absolutely no idea what he was talking about and so I replied "What?"

The man then walked away...

What in the name was all that for?

What is the inventor up to?

well, Gatsby spoke to the inventor agan

Quote:
Everyone knows about Daisy's husband Tom. His lechery is well known as well and I even hear that Daisy knows about it. He is a violent and narcissistic man from what I hear and has no regard for his wife's interests.

I was drinking tea with the inventor that morning and he happened to tell me the latest gossip about East Egg.

It turns out that Tom has acquired himself another mistress of whose name he did not know. And he also told me Tom punched her in the face and broke her nose.

How could the young and beautiful Daisy marry such a godawful, abusive man such as Tom? Poor thing...

Here is what I ask of you my friends. I want to win her back...

How can I go about it?

I have a feeling the inventor is lying and is either going to somehow get Gatsby to kill this Tom person, or the other way round

this doesn't sound good

You little persistent gutterslugs...

Of all the damn things to happen this game, you have made it increasingly difficult. Do you really think that just spouting to Gatsby that I am evil will sway him? I have his coherent trust, you have nothing.

God you remind me of my father... The opposition. Always being the opposite to my interests. Not this time however, this time I will get what I want no matter what.

As you can see Tom has already visited Gatsby's house and, for those of you who have read the book, you would know that the trip to New York is vastly approaching. I have big plans for that BTW and I intend to join them on the trip. Luckily, you cannot XD

We will see what happens soon enough. I want dead bodies, you want peace and harmony. Unfortunately, we can't have both...

See you on the trip!

~The Inventor

i guess we should stop him going on that trip somehow. any ideas

The PM requested that I close this thread as they have decided to end the game.

Sorry guys.

[but what if the players want to continue discussing the game? since games aren't "played" on uF, this is still an appropriate forum to have open just for that purpose. a PM can figure out an in-game method to end it without using uF (which he already used to start it). if not, he's a lazy PM and shouldn't be running any ARG until he has a better understanding of the committment that is required and a better thought-out script. i've unlocked in case anyone wants to chat about it - kona]
