Symbolism in ARG's
The importance and relevance of symbols in ARG's and a bonus Slendy rant

The importance of symbols in "Alternate" fiction (ARG's and anything related/similar) is obvious. But how many of the symbols we might use to associate different people and things actually have some kind of significance? How many of them have any kind of back-story or stand-alone significance? Any examples of the significance of symbolism in "Alternate" fiction would be appreciated.

And if you are going to use the "Circle-X" symbol or anything else even remotely related to the Slenderman character/mythos/whatever else, just keep in mind that I utterly despise the Slenderman as a character, a mythos, hell just the fact that anyone could ever take it seriously. As well as vast majority of what's left of the people who are "fans" or the Slenderman or anyone who still follows the mythos (no offense to anyone.)

Symbolism is probably very important, as it gives people a point of reference in the series. Assume for example that you have to different groups in an arg, it can be important to tell them apart. Also, you can easily use references to various already existing symbols to add meaning(unless it is just used like in neone genesis evangelion), and name meanings and reerences to other works of fiction or religious texts can serve as an integral part in an arg.
