but anyways, yeah I actually think I like how much of this series is kept a mystery. I dont' think i ever want to know the motivations behind the operator or even what it is, i think that would ruin it.

More on topic: that door that Tim couldn't reach is going to be critical to the series. I'd imagine that's the thing Tim wants to show Jay.

Thanks for the clarification, I do think he was transported to some other universe where perhaps Slendy roams.

Yes, I'm not really sure that was the Ark, but that was definitely Slendy's pocket dimension (or rather, universe). I wonder if Jessica is there too?

... You just gave me the concept that the "dark world" could be a hellish world where the dead are transported by good ol' Slendy.

May seem a bit rash, but Slendy could also be a form of Grim Reaper.

So I went through the first 4 minutes, starting after the tunnel scene we see. Here's a visual transcript, and will follow with frames of distortions and other important instances:

Tim in a murky body of water
Almost surfaces and see top of tunnel 1:21
After a struggle, he appears walking somewhere with leaves on the ground
Appears on a trail in similar wooded area
Falls down, kneeling, falls onto back, sits up
Scene change: bright sunlight, wooded forest
Overlay of wooden barn from earlier around 1:54
Contrast distortion around 1:55
Tim groping around on ground
Red spiral light distortion 2:03
Tim's screaming face 2:03
Slendy at end of hallway then he disappears and reappears 2:06
Tim on pavement drooling/foaming
Time on hands on knees, still pavement. spits blood
Distortion: Tim's coughing shadow silouetted in bright colours 2:21
Streaking line distortions
Water again, blocks of black/colours along bottom of screen throughout
More coloured line block distortion
Cut to another scene, wooded area with leaves on ground
Tim is being dragged
Contrast distortion around 2:36
Scene cut: Tim hanging from a tree. he lets go and falls
Vein-like blackout distortion as he falls with black frames
Cut to him running through forest, similar lighting
Cut to black
Fade into new scene, man on paved floor (Bruce), some strewn leaves
Turns man over then recoil and falls down
Gets up and begins running through what appears to be woody area, though we only see green and dead leaf colours on the ground from the camera angle
Fades to black
Bright cyan and neon green distortion at 3:15
Morphs into similar distortions, revealing to be looking at water that Tim is in (shallower than other water)
Distortion that makes water appear bloody at 3:19
Pixelated and coloured distortion at 3:19
Camera in and out of water repeatedly, finally Tim rises from what appears to be a stream in the woods
Camera pans upwards for a while, implying Tim is resting on his back, exhausted and gasping from the struggle of getting out of the water
Blue and green smoky distortion at 3:50
Scene cuts to Tim lying on back in parking lot
More blue and green smoky distortion at 3:53
Tim gets up and gets in his car, black and white pixelated distortion, then Jay appears

Ah thanks for the clarification, guess he's still mad at hoody, can't blame him.

As of Tim being tied to the hospital, I think the "Operator" could have been Tim's doctor...just a thought

What if, WHAT IF, Tim was born in that hospital?

That could be sort of a stretch.... But, possibly, I guess. There hasn't been any evidence to deny it.

But, I think his behavior and the fact that he sub-consciously chose to display that behavior THERE (Scratching at the walls and begging to be let out, claiming "it wasn't him", and pointing at something in the corner of the room and screaming that "it came from there" over and over as if the people he's screaming at aren't listening/don't believe him) point more towards the behavior a confused and frustrated mental patient would have, and if he was a patient, he could not possibly have been born there. Mental hospitals are only for mental patients, not normal patients.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but are you sure that's a mental hospital?

Oh, I'm only "What if-ing", like you! I'm just going off of his behavior and where he chose to go in his sub-conscious state to display it. Obviously, the room and his behavior are connected. Considering his past and the way his strange ramblings sound, his being a mental patient is not far off. So, since his behavior and the room are connected, it would have to be a room in a mental hospital.

But, to answer your question in a non-"What if" way, nobody ever said it wasn't a mental hospital. So, no one knows for certain.

Had an idea,

If Tim had the dark eyes and blank expression after being where ever he was when Jay found him in his car, what if Jay went through a similar experience when he was dark eyed and blank faced in Return but didn't remember it and had no camera?

Tim didn't remember this experience at all, don't forget.

The beginning part of the entry with all the teleporting, drowning, running around, hanging from branch then falling, distortion, seeing Bruce's body in a different dimension, etc. was really freaky and just plain awesome. So basically all of that happened before Jay got back to his car? That's quite interesting.

It got a little bit sad when Tim was wandering around the hospital and crying and stuff. I wonder what's behind that door.

And I really hope Tim ACTUALLY has something to show Jay. I swear if he pulls an Alex and just plans on taking him there to do something like give him away or kill him or whatever, I'm gonna be so disappoint.

I want some answers, dammit.

I agree that Tim may have stayed at the hospital before. It seemed to me like he was re-living one of his experiences there when he was seemingly talking to no one.

Thanks for the transcript maddielyne.

It reminds me of how great the transitions are in this video, also I loved the lighting when Tim finds Bruce. It manages to convey Tim's complete and utter shock through his shadow at a time when we couldn't see his face unless it was at an awkward angle.

Ark

I don't know if this has been said yet, so sorry if I'm just reposting an old theory.

But what if the Ark is something that TTA and The Operator are racing towards? Perhaps the Ark is something that only Tim can access, and TTA and TO are both trying to use him to get to it?

But if Tim were born there, it might explain his uncanny attachment to it. That way, he would be linked to it from childhood, and the Operator obviously has something to do with the hospital. So that's something.

Well I'm gonna play the hospital card and assume that the hospital is definitely the ark.

If not then it's the "dark world" where the deceased are brought. But heaven knows why TTA wants to get in there...

I'd definitely agree with this. I personally think he was referring to his "alter-ego/fugue state/whatever Masky exactly is" when he was saying "It wasn't me!" (perhaps, while in his Masky state, he did something to earn himself a stay in the hospital.... similar to swallowing an entire bottle of pills?) and to the Operator when he started freaking out and screaming that "IT'S OVER THERE IT CAME FROM OVER THERE".

It's sort of tragic. In a way, Tim was both completely sane and completely insane at the same time. Sounds like he was trying to convince the doctors that he had a sane side.
