I would show you the TinyChat pictures, but I think that might be broaching some kind of unwritten pact with the other creators.

Also: Agreed.

Unread anything you've ever read by Stephen King. He's terrible.
I would disagree with this. He's a terrific storyteller who writes fantastic characters . He's just not very good at plotting. I would avoid him as an influence would a slendervl/blog.

On proxies: most people don't understand what proxies are for. They are secondary antagonists used to fill the void when you don't want to explain slendeymysteries and need a more immediate villain. HABIT is not a traditional proxy as he is almost on tier if not more of a villain than Slenderman. The Observer is probably the closest to an actual proxy, TTA and the other maskies have taken more of a third-party role.

The trick with proxies or any other non-Slenderman villain is to make them engaging and use them as a plot vehicle rather than just lol proxy. It's fun to become an avant-garde film maker, but in the end most proxy vids suck. Make your proxy mean something beyond the scare factor, make him central.

darkharvest00's proxies aren't technically proxies per se but they are fantastic secondary antagonists. Check out what they're doing with their Slendercult.

oic.

I assumed proxies were people/entities who act on the behalf of the Slender Man. Hence "proxy", rather than, you know, "other character".

I'm just not a fan of Stephen King. His stories make good movies, but his writing style makes my eyes feel soiled. Personal prejudice, but if I were to give any advice at all on style, it would be to avoid writing like a horror writer, and if that means reading a bunch of stuff you wouldn't normally read, do that.

Whereas if anyone tries to write a Slendervlog in the style of a) James Joyce, b) Jane Austen, or c) Edward Lear, I'll be a happy bunny.

As someone with a BA in English Lit, I am horrified at what you just said.

As someone who enjoys movies, I'm horrified that you'd say his books make movies when traditionally they have not.

A slenderblog in the style of James Joyce would cause me to lose my shit(from laughing so hard).

The Shining, Misery and Carrie are generally pretty well-regarded, as are The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile (which I won't defend as I haven't seen them). Also I quite like Cujo.

You could. It would be something new. Most people write blogs about the Slender Man, though. Slender is the just the name of the game, not the entity itself.

You'd want to come up with a good reason for why the protagonist is finding notes, and of course, why the Slender Man is following him.

I'm outlining a blog which takes place in a steampunk universe. It's present day, but the writing style and overall world is very Victorian. The Slender Man would be a clockwork automaton like being.

Well, you'd have to come up with a good concept. If you don't have a good concept it could ruin the whole blog.

I feel like this is becoming the Slendermythos' "Simpsons Did It", but...
