Tonight, I had to take out the trash. The fog is absurdly dense tonight - visibility at 1/4 mile according to the weather report, but I'd be very surprised if it were that good. I went outside, went down to the trash barrel(we have one of those creepy back-ally garages)... It was totally and completely silent, fog in both directions lit only by streetlights, and I was totally alone. I was forcibly reminded of those older Slenderman pictures, and was positive I was seeing him out the corner of my eye at every turn. Took every ounce off willpower not to book it back to the house.

Then went upstairs, plugged in the baby monitor, and nearly flipped a sh** when it started putting out a distortion-y static.

 Perhaps less terrifying than others..

...but Marble Hornets has inspired my "Movember"

I usually have a full, closely cropped beard which last year I shaved off entirely to do it "properly"...but this left me with a crap "bumfluff" moustache for half the month.

So this year I shaved off my beard - apart from a "Bandido" moustache...and two big "lamb chop" sideburns in honour of Timmasky.

I may look ridiculous, but I know I'm paying homage to Timman Cool

Living in student accommodation, my flat mate's girlfriend is a few floors above us. We were up there one evening, watching Marble Hornets and various other horror films. Getting on into the early hours, I went back downstairs to go to bed. The lights come on on each landing, but not the stairs themselves (what means health and safety?), and walking down them in the cold and dark, I was having to check over my shoulder or in the windows of the flat opposite for The Operator every few steps xD

This kinda crosses over with an MH related dream I had, but it just sorta melded into real life...

A couple nights ago, I had a dream I was being chased by the Operator through an endlessly large and looping house. It was like Entry 23, except the house was normalish. Every room was empty though. The Operator distorted himself and reality around him. Sometimes he looked like the one from MH. Sometimes he looked like the one from Slender. And sometimes it would be like my mind could not honest to God handle his appearance. Freaky dream, but it didn't scare me too much.

Tonight, I go with my mom to pick up my brothers from work. I feel weird, like someone is watching me. And as I'm driving down the road I look up at the moon and think it looks odd, like someone took a bite out of it. I try to tell myself to shake it off, that it's all in my head. But in a tiny little genre saavy corner of my brain, something whispers back that that's what the dead people in horror stories say. So, I decide to myself, I'm not going to be the dead guy, I'm gonna be the one who survives. And just after I decided that, I look to the right, and I swear, for a second, I see him off to the side of the road in a grove of trees by a community college near where I live. He's just standing there like he would've been in a Season 1 vid. I'm driving, so I can't exactly keep staring since I need to be watching the road.

Okay, I'm just worked up and freaked out, right? After picking up my bros, on the way back home, my mom has a huge coughing fit for no explicable reason. Then a couple minutes later, my radio, which is off by the way, gives off a burst of static. But hey, maybe my mom's just coming down with a cold. And I already know the radio is dying, just coincidence, eh? Finally, just as we are nearing home, for no discernable reason, my mom starts telling me about how our house is actually situated between two covered creeks that she had no idea existed until a little while ago... Wow, plot relevant revelation!

So, ah, I have taken note of where the creeks are. I am sleeping tonight with my car keys on my bed, a water bottle by my bed, and a bag of stuff in easy grabbing distance if I need to run. I swear, I will jump through my window if I need to. I hope water really can hurt him 'cause it's all I have to go on... Very Happy (Although given how Entry 65 went I just may be plain old screwed)

Him: Masky?
Me: Yeah, from Marble Hornets. You know, the guy who tackles Jay.
Him: Marble Hornets?
Me: Goddammit you're one of those guys! Get watching Marble Hornets!
Him (after watching a video or two): Oh yeah, I have a friend who was into that shit a few years ago. not shit as offensive it was quite o.o what next

He then went offline.

This is hilarious.

How it affected my life...
Well...

Well, I'd hate to say it, but I wish I had all of the time in the world to read all of those responses. As I said in the OT thread or whatever it is called, I am inexperienced to the whole forum thing, so please forgive me.

The MH series has affected my life not much in a bad way, but it has got me a bit investigative, thinking about new ideas and such (as well as thinking about enttry #32 or whatever it was called, I think that one scarred me for life XD). But mainly new ideas for future film projects. As I said in the OT forum, I have ideas just in case of the Marble Hornets ceased to exist. If this has caught anyone's attention, I will discuss those ideas with everyone. I don't like speaking when no one is listening, if you know what I mean Rolling Eyes

And I also wonder if there is any others that actually have continuations, or (when I get the time, money, etc.) if I can contact MarbleHornets himself to discuss that topic. I am still researching and exploring the full Marble Hornets series, and I am trying to figure out a plot so I can maybe create a sequel series myself.

I've had a couple of real life mh experiences.

The first (and worst) one was the night after I first discovered the Slenderman, about 6 months ago. As you can imagine, I was pretty much shitting myself with fright as it was. It was around 4 in the morning, and I'd had absolutely zero sleep. I'd been resting on my side for about 2 hours with thoughts of our good friend Slendy running through my head, and I turned onto my other side to get comfy...guess who I saw standing in the corner of the room. I blinked and it turns out I was hallucinating (luckily), but it scared the living shit out of me.

The second one was when I was filming some totally non-Slendy related stuff in the woods, and thinking about how god-awfully familiar this felt. And then after I recorded one piece of footage and tried to play it back..."FILE ERROR: UNABLE TO PLAY FOOTAGE". Even my bloody camera felt like making me crap myself that day.

Just goes to show what psychological horror can do to people sometimes.

I've told everyone at school about Slendy. Therefore, I have nearly a hundred people drawing operator symbols at school. Today, a new teacher that had heard of Marble Hornets shit himself when he saw every last student putting, at the very end of their work, (X).

It was hilarious.

Anyway, I shit myself watching a video my bro made. Everything was static-y and all that shit. Then again, he had been blowing into the microphone during recording.

Embarassed

Heeh.

As a high school teacher myself, I can attest to earning mad street-cred with some of my students for dropping Slendy references in class.

I have named my basement "The Basement of Doom..." And I maybe i'm squeamish about entering it without the lights on... Just maybe I'll forget someday only to turn the corner and find a tall, slender and oh-so-eldritch horror leaning on a stack of boxes patiently waiting.

OK, so last August right after I started getting into Marble Hornets (before I finished my first watch through), my friend and I were talking about it in front of my dad, and he just had to add that since I also in a loft bed, Slendy could just stand there and watch me while I sleep because I'm at the right height. Will not only had that made me more eternally paranoid, but I had a dream that Slendy was in my house, and I was coughing a lot from Slender sickness, and he was standing right behind our corner couch and for no reason, I began uncontrollably coughing and running towards him. That's when I woke up. Needless to say,I didn't get any more sleep that night.

...

Thank you for that mental image, I will now be sleeping on the couch for the rest of my life.

ONTOPIC:

Exactly five minutes ago, my old DVD player exchanged the old The Wiz film for FUCKLOADS OF STATIC.. Checked, nothing was wrong-- But the fucking disc had broken in the player. By that, I mean it had cracked in half and pieces were everywhere. No noise had been made - That I heard, it was probably blocked out by static - and the player was far too old to have broken it by speed.

What the hell just happened?

EDIT: To be precise, the static reminded me of Slenderman. Naturally, I screamed and grabbed a gun, yelling "SLEHNDARMOHN!"

...

That seems a whole lot funnier now.

I've definitely had a few times where I had dreams of TO, I'm probably a little more paranoid than I used to be. I started trolling my girlfriend with creepy slendy stories. Also I now have a strong distaste for tall well dressed white guys.

You're ok as long as they have faces. They do have faces, right?

Of course! I mean, come on, there's no such thing as a tall faceless man that lives in the trees with tentacles that's standing right behind you right now.

Right?
