How close? Wink And how different is it from Mel's price-wise?

Honestly, I never eat at Denny's. Well, not never, but I haven't in many years. So, I'm sorry I can't help you on the price comparison. Maybe someone else knows? As far as proximity to the event, it is about a half a block away from 4th and Mission (on Mission), sort of across from Mel's.

Mel's Diner menu:
(fergit that link, it's a little too far away from 4th & Mission)

I'll take the Chili Cheese Fries, please.

So it's pretty much the same as Denny's pricing then, really. My vote's for Mel's.

I dunno. Mel's is always pretty crowded and not that big. Denny's might be better in terms of packing a bunch of people in.

Mel's?

Mel(issa)'s???

Simple coincidence? Yes, probably. but still!

This Denny's may not be very big. I have only seen it from the outside, but it is crammed in between other businesses (not a freestanding structure like most Denny's).
Hopefully, on a Thursday night at 9:00, the Mel's won't bee too crowded. I think there is a better chance of getting seated than if it were in a residential area.
I just noticed my typo (unintentional--at least not consciously), but I have decided not to correct it.
Also, Mel...Melissa. I like those odds.Wink

Mel's Drivein

I think you might have the wrong Mel's there, missphinx. That is a chain in Florida.

I think this is it:

http://www.melsdrive-in.com/

Their menu link isn't working right now though...

mels or dennys: Reservation?

Thanks for considering all options hrmpita. Though Denny's will be decidedly cheaper (and not as good, but I'm a student, so there you have it) I think Mels might be the better deal as far as getting our own clump of tables rather than just booths scattered around the resturant. Nameless Pete seems to know the places, perhaps he or hrmpita can stick their heads in and verify which is better, maybe grab up a reservation for 10:00ish at whichever looks more promising in terms of getting a group all together. (I'm there for the socialization. I'll be bringing food with me.)

Also, I think rallying somwhere inside the Metreon would be cool, and easier than going all the way across town for Margarets something or other. I'm content to chuckle at it, I don't feel the need to add another moving part to the trip just to go chuckle at it in person.[/b]

But...isn't this Florida?

Another classic example of AXON MISFIRE provided by yours truly.

I didn't even click on your link! It was probably cheaper than this Mel's.

This one's full name is Mel's Drive-In. It is across 4th St. from the Metreon, actually built into the parking structure (entrance on Mission St). It is a chain that still tries to cash in on being featured in American Graffitti. Most of the locations are open 24-hours, but this one closes at 3 am, probably because of the neighborhood. The menu link isn't working for me. Rolling Eyes

Pants, I am fairly sure you can't make reservations at either Mel's or Denny's, but I can check. This Sunday, I'll try to get down there and look inside Denny's and also look at the menus at both places. Mel's menu pretty long, with lots of inserts, usually. Hopefully, I can snap pictures of the menus at both places without causing alarm from the restaurant employees. Smile Or, if I amnot feeling that ambitious, just tell you all the approximate price ranges.

If vpisteve's wishful thinking is correct, it'll be at Jillian's and we can get our refreshments there (comped, I hope Wink).

Alrighty, the Combat Training Exercise Travel Database has been launched in full beta and is starting to get some traffic. I have 8 of your names in there without your express permission:

ariock
ceantari
G3K
hmrpita
Lady Kata
Mazian
Nameless Pete
pineapple

Could these people please *PM* my inbox here and tell me either:
1) the record is fine as is, permission granted.
2) you wish to edit your record, in which case we will then delete it and let you create your own record with a password.
3) you simply wish to have the record deleted at this time.

Thank you for your patronage -- and for being my test subjects.

Also, if anyone would like to beef up the description of the location, with either travel directions or info about before/after rendezvous plans, send some text to my INBOX and i'll see what I can fit on the page.
