The Long Waits

I used to get pretty impatient with the long waits between entries. But when I think about it, the long waits are actually good for several reasons:

1. This is the last season. Before you know it, there will be no more entries to look forward to and many people will miss that. Savor the flavor while it lasts.

2. I'd rather wait longer for better entries than have crappier but more frequent entries.

3. It gives people time to catch up on what has happened up until this point. New fans have the time to watch all the entries, TTA responses, read the tweets, the posts in this forum, etc...

Although I do wish there were more tweets during these long breaks. They're short and don't take too much time yet they are good to hold you over a little during the breaks.

I absolutly agree with everything. But this is the rage thread.

I just think it's annoying that during these long waits people keep saying they're going to stop watching until the season is over but they never actually do it. They just keep watching the entries and then complain in between each and every one. If you hate the long waits THAT much maybe you really should just stop watching until the season is over... instead of just saying that you are going to and then not actually do it.

Dude, fer serious, Mayan calendar ended probably decades ago. They didn't figure in leap years. :V We're fine.

Technically it ended on December 24th, 2011.

I suspect it ended earlier than that because we've been using leap years for several centuries by this point.

That whole leap year theory on the Maya calendar was debunked almost a year ago: http://about2012phenomenon.blogspot.com/2012/03/worst-mayan-calendar-debunk-ever.html

It's surprising how many people still believe it.

In my rage, I would just like to point out that the link you posted has only one source and it's a dubious one at that. Show me a legit source from a scientific journal or university library article, and maybe I will put stock in what you claim. The point of the matter is that people who are attempting to read more into the mayan calendar than they really should have applied OUR calendar to the mayan calendar. Which is completely incompatible, hence the reference to leap years obviously not being accounted for in the mayan calendar.

For so long I have been trying to get people to realize that the mayans calculated out their calendar so far ahead that the fact that it ends at all is a moot point. It's my belief that they just took a look at their work one day and decided that they had calculated far enough ahead that they could totally take a break now and just add on as needed.

My point: the mayan calendar is bullshit.

Well, the thing is, you don't really need a legit source as it's basic logic on why the whole leap year theory is incorrect. If you read what he's saying, it makes perfect sense. Why would someone not count leap years when calculating that date? The person who made that leap year theory just assumed that they didn't account for leap years when calculating December 21st. That makes no sense.

Why the hell would the mayans account for leap year WHEN THEY DIDN'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT THE CONCEPT???? For shit sake. Seriously!!!!!

They didn't. The end of their calendar isn't marked as "December 21st", it's marked as whatever classification they assigned to it. If we didn't have leap years, the end of the Mayan calendar would have still been last week, we just wouldn't be labelling it December 21st 2012.

It's the American way! Besides, Australians all say the same stuff about the Aboriginals. Never mind that Australia is the result of social rejects breeding on Aboriginal land for hundreds of years.
