Tim is playing everybody. He doesn't have a job, he's not being manipulated by Hoody, and he knows exactly what is going on. He uses his Masky persona, and Hoody together to manipulate the rest of the cast through intimidation. He is also behind TTA, another tool he uses to manipulate Jay. The Ark is a real thing, and he is manipulating Jay into finding it. There must be some danger involved in the actual finding process, so he hopes to have Jay take the initial risk.

It seems so much less probable nowadays, but I'm just at a complete loss for how to explain incidents like The Terrific Teleporting ~~Troy~~ Jay otherwise.

Oh my gosh, what if we're 'the ark?' Like, the Operator is an interdimensional creature, so like, he could transport TTA to "our world" that's OOG, because TTA what's to get from being IG to OOG so he can wreak havoc on "the real world!"

Crazy, huh? I can do crazy:

I believe ToTheArk is or was Alex at some point. It was the only solution I saw to how TTA has original Marble Hornets footage, including stuff definitely shot by Alex. Tim being Masky put a dent in that theory, but by no means destroyed it.

I believe the Ark is something Alex found during the original production, either a place or an object, and that TTA (Alex or not) believed the footage was on the season 1 tapes. If he was Alex, he must have lost his memories of where the Ark was, but that he should be able to use it to keep the Operator at bay.

Speaking of, I still don't know what to believe about the Operator. In season 1 I figured it was a "speak of the devil" thing, that if you saw him, he saw you. Even through video. This was also during the time Just Another Fool was going, and that was the way Slenderman worked there.
However, since then I've kinda lost faith in that theory, since there seems to be... I just, I don't know. He does things, he stands there menacingly, he hangs out in creepy places, he's just a slenderman I guess.

For more concrete and crazy, how's this: I believe Season 1 is not the first time Jay found and looked at the Marble Hornets tapes, but that it's the first time he actually shared them with other people. Every other time he started looking at them, he gathered the wrong kind of attention and ended up memory wiped.

Crazy theory: I believe we've not seen the last of Skully, and that they might be Hoody.
