The Nihilist cipher uses a "key" as well. I think maybe the plaintext may be "SEES NOW" and the key may be "PERMANENCE." Can anyone try this?

More about Nihilist cipher: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nihilist_cipher

I gladly would, I even set up a simple program to generate tables for me, but how big a table should I make? And what to fill the table with?

Try S E E S N O W just like they did for "ZEBRA" on Wikipedia. Then use the key "PERMANENCE." It'd be great if we actually find something!

Would it have to just be 'SENOW' tho as the 'S' and 'E' are doubled in 'SEES'?

EDIT: That also makes it 5 letters long like 'ZEBRA'

I understood what you meant Wink

But I still can't try it, all the phrases SEES NOW, PERMANENCE and CONTINUE ON contain duplicate letters making the Polybius table ambiguous. Also, the table must be at least 6×6 indexed from 0 to be able to produce pairs with low or high values like 03, 13, 89, 97. That raises more question about what to fill it with. You can't produce all these numbers with a regular Polybius table...

I may have been too optimistic with Nihilist cipher... Sad

By the way, there are no 27-39 on the second code, neither on the first one. Is Jay mistaking/Troy giving info again?

Jay's latest tweet would suggest that there's a second pattern in the number pairs, into which the mysterious 03 fits.

pattern 1: (+11)
Code:
13, 24, 35, 57, 68, 79

pattern 2 (+12):
Code:
03, (15), 27, 39

*15 is not found in any of the lines we're decoding here (although it is found in the description)

Edit: Leaving us with 75, 72, and 31, which belong to no obvious pattern but are the inverted forms of pairs found in the two patterns.

Has anyone tried what they did for "YOUR ARK. HER LIES" for this one?

Thanks for pointing that out!
83 and 95 also belong to the '+12 pattern' although they don't follow exactly from 03, 27, 39 (if so, it would be 87 and 99)

Has anyone tried "Jessica" as a key? I would do it myself, but to be honest I just barely understand what you're talking about at this point.

I did. Couldnt get anything because the numbers cant be lined vertically without leaving one pair out. And also Troy said it wasnt what he intended, so...

Cause everyone else dismissed Nihilist cipher pretty quickly I tried it out. But as expected got gibberish again.

Code:

   1 2 3   4 5
 1 S E N   O W
 2 A B C   D F
 3 G H I/J K L
 4 M P Q   R T
 5 U V X   Y Z

  P  E  R  M  A  N  E  N  C  E
  24 21 44 14 12 31 21 31 32 21 24 21 44 14 12 31 21 31 32 21
  79 75 83 27 72 72 24 83 75 68 13 83 27 79

  55 54   39 13 60 41 02 52 43 47 11 62 17 65

  ZT G O FK S

That's what I got, leaving out the numbers that didn't fit. If I had used a 0-6 grid I may have got something else, but I don't know how to do them

i encourage people to keep pursuing key/cipher codes on their own, but imo there's not much use posting gibberish/speculation when there's no clear key and the hints don't lend themselves to that approach
