God, even though I knew it was going to be an obtuse message, it's still a letdown.

How is it a letdown? We now know for sure Jessica is not TTA, and that she is still alive. You don't get those kind of reveals on the usual TTA code.

No, you don't. It's trickery. I firmly believe Jessica is, if not ToTheArk, then a part of ToTheArk.

I think a 15 or 51 and a 57 or 75 were missing, unless I did something wrong. Anyways, that was hard, man. I like that you used a mirrored pair too.

"Out there" makes it seem like he/she/they/it is saying "She's not with us, but she's still alive." That and the tweet Jay posted saying that all the TTA footage of her was just reused looks like a big hint to confirm this.

Maybe she was a part of totheark before, but then she was taken away. Then Tim left Hoody to join Jay, and then Hoody was all alone. That might explain why TTA's "Isolation" seems kind of gloomy. Then again, maybe not. I don't really think Jessica is part of totheark though, after seeing the decoded code.

Apparently double checking wasn't enough to make sure it was correct.

Amended code:

03 57 68 83 24 83 27 46 79 13 27 15 27 95 15 57 79 83 95 68 79 24 13 31 13 24 27 03 13 27

Should be right this time (even though you already figured it out)

Fantastic work! And then exactly the kind of message you would expect from that cryptic motherfucker. Hopefully there will be more like this..

I'm starting to wonder if it's even possible to make a code like this with more than one message.

On a side note, that "amended code" reminds me of when this video's code was decoded to "amended career" (which was credited as the first coherent, but false, solution). We've been throught so many things just because of these numbers.

Until we have confirmation, I'm not 100% sold on it, but Bravo on that brilliantly simple cypher breaking.

Are you f***king kidding me?

After some 60 pages of discussion, days of deciphering and speculations about "the ultimate cipher" we end up with "It's your fault, she's out there, I am watching"? What kind of impact does that message have? Virtually none. TTA's always been blaming people and watching everything. The only news is Jessica's alive, which honestly isn't such an unexpected revelation...

On the other hand, to be fair, MH crew probably expected us to solve this in a short while. I guess some of us (allright, me) got overexcited about this...

It's still a disappointment though. I hope the plot moves forward soon...

The actual decryption looked surprisingly easy. It's like one of those Portal 2 levels towards the end where you spend forever trying to solve it and then it turns out that, oh, you just had to use the fucking lightbridge

Well, the part about "watching" may not have come up if the code was solved sooner, since it was posted on twitter during the hints posts.
I too was expecting something a bit more though. I mean, yeah, I had fun; but I am a little disappointed.

When the numbers are grouped in pairs, there's a lot of repetition:
Code:
79 75 83 27 72 72 24
83 75 68 13 83 27 79

68 83 57 68 24 83
79 79 83 57 75 57

Some of those could be backwards, I suppose it wouldn't be the first time.

I wish my timezone didn't force me to be sleeping as Jay posted the last tweet, but I'm glad I was the first to suggest treating the string as pairs of numbers. Not that no one else would, but I like to think that saved us some trouble and time.

ydna wrote:
Still, I think this is the right track. Maybe the next step is a substitution cipher. Shouldn't be too complicated (although this TTA is indeed somewhat abnormal).

Oh, hell, Jay was really not trolling us after all and his tips ended up being useful. I'm glad I dismissed real cryptography; as I stated before, this ARG's puzzles are usually quite simple (to apply the solution, anyway). And the solution was indeed sort of a substitution cipher, just a wicked one.

Still, I hate the ambiguity in some TTA puzzles. Fortunately, this one's messages are quite consistent and there doesn't seem to be more than one intelligible decode for each line, so I believe we can safely say it's the correct solution. The same finally goes to the description code, as the same method yelds no results there.

Good job, everyone! Was kinda fun, but I wish this has a better reward than a semi-obvious statement that Jessica is still alive (I mean, the video's about her, and it's called Surveillance, so we could guess that message, even though this makes it certain).
