New mail from Dale - 5/20

As posted by Nimue36 on CD:

Quote:
Hi Christina, Dale here.

I realize it's been a while since I was in touch and I really have a lot to share with you. I haven't written to anyone since we managed to get Wes' safe open and I know everyone has questions about what I found in there. But that's just the start of what I have to talk about. So bear with me if this gets a little long.

OK, first about Wes' safe. I hope that Sam posting the note I wrote explaining how it was solved answered everyone's questions about that part of it. So, what was inside the safe? Well, as you probably know by now I did find the notebook

Wes mentioned in there, right on top. It looks like a normal medium sized notebook, around 7 1/2" by 9 1/2". Inside is page after page of handwritten notes. It appears that whoever this guy was used this as a journal of sorts, in which he recorded details of his travels. You know, mileage, directions, city names, hotel names, phone numbers, etc. At one point, his entries start to get stranger and stranger, which Sam and I are figuring correspond with him getting a hold of the disc. In fact, you'll see when Sam gets all the relevant pages scanned and posted, some of the pages even mention Wes' name and have drawings resembling the disc. Hopefully Sam can get at least some of the pages up by tomorrow and the rest soon after. I've asked him to keep everyone updated as to when he starts getting it online.

Beneath the notebook there was a lot of stuff, much of it Wes' personal mementos and valued possessions. For the most part I left that stuff alone, as it was things like jewelry, personal letters from his wife, birth certificates and so on. Even under the circumstances we are under, I didn't feel right digging through that stuff. So after identifying it as something personal, I set those items aside. But there were some other things in there as well.

One of those was a manuscript, from what I'm assuming is a new book Wes was working on. It was entitled "Secrets You Cannot Know" and contained a lot of very interesting information, even though it was still in rough, unedited form.

The book is basically a detailed expose of secret organizations throughout history, including of course, all the well-known ones like the Illuminati, the Knights Templar, the Merovingians, etc but it also goes into many others I've never heard of, citing obscure references from literature and historical documents. But it also seems to be an attempt to explain the metaphysical side of it all as well, in terms of balance between one force and another. It also theorizes that many of these secret organizations or societies at different times throughout history are really different incarnations or reflections of the same hidden forces or powers. There's an awful lot of material to wade through but I promise to try share any sections I think may be important with you as soon as possible. There were also some additional short stories, poetry etc in there in handwritten scripts, but I didn't have time to read through them all.

Speaking of manuscripts, I found something else very interesting in Wes' safe.

A copy of the manuscript page that was found in the Willingham's old trunk. Not an actual manuscript page, but just a photocopy of the page. What's interesting are the notes Wes (or someone) has written on it, notes about "the Nine", the unusual symbols on the page and more. That I promise to get online somewhere for you tonight. I'll either send another e-mail or find some other way to let you know when it's done. Let me know what you think after you see it.

What else was in the safe? There was another notepad that appeared to be one of Wes' think pads or something, as there were notes and ideas scribbled on it. Most of it was stuff either I or Sam had already talked with him about or known, including old stuff like attempts at solving some of the earlier guide puzzles and so on. But, towards the back of the notebook, after a bunch of empty pages, I found two words written that I don't recognize from anything we've discussed. It's probably just meaningless scribbling, done while Wes was talking on the phone or something, but in the interest of being thorough I thought I'd mention them in case they meant anything to anyone else. They were "gray weathers". Let me know if they ring any bells.

This is so long already but I still have a lot to cover with you. Like my status here in Aglaura. As many of you suggested and as you may have surmised by now, I did not attend Mayor Dobbs' "emergency" Council meeting. Some people sent in some very interesting ideas for how I should handle Mayor Dobbs and the Council, but I have an idea that will hopefully allow me, with a little help, to help return some of the pressure they've been trying to apply to me, back to them. Mayor Dobbs' little house of cards isn't as sturdy as he might like to think. Once I talk to my intended "partner" in this, I'll fill you in on the details. In the meantime, let Pat and JD do whatever they want.

My idea for handling Aglaura may also help with another situation that needs attention. Don Marzano has been sending me personal invitations to come talk to him. A smart man wouldn't ignore those for very long, if you know what I mean.

So I need to reply to him and set up a meeting. Don't be alarmed though; if the "partner" I mentioned earlier comes on board with my plan, Don may find this fly an unwanted guest in his spider parlor.

Time for some good news. I've been looking at what this "rubin echus" has been sending me and think I may have figured something out. His whole involvement in this didn't make any sense to me from the start and neither did the fact that someone, whoever it was, would rely on an unknown element like "rubin" to forward along a critical piece of information. So from the get go I thought "rubin" was somehow involved. And that got me thinking. If he was involved, who would he be working with that would have the information that he passed along? There's only one person, and it's obvious, at least to me. It has to be Wes. I sent "rubin" a reply with some info only Wes would know as a test.

I think Wes is alive and safe, but hiding somewhere, and not in the hands of the "dead eyes" at all. For some reason, he hasn't felt safe communicating as Wes to us. Maybe he's concerned about all the people with access to my e-mail, as he always told me not to trust so many people. Or maybe there was something he wanted to do or accomplish, something that required anonymity. I'm not sure.

But, this message tonight almost certainly confirms it for me. One of Wes' little pet passions was the Mayan culture. As in "sáamal in laak", which I believe is Mayan for "tomorrow my friend". One last thing – looking around for Mayan stuff I found an interesting Mayan word – "huun", which basically means paper or writing material. One of the words I anagrammed out of "rubinechus" originally by doing advanced anagram solving was "scribe". Guess what that left? "Huun". At the time it didn't make any sense to me, but now it does. Do you see it? Rubin Echus anagrams into "Huun" or "paper" scribe; ie, a writer. Hopefully "rubin" will confirm my suspicions tomorrow.

OK this has gotten way too long. I promise another update very soon because I still have a lot to tell you about. Like some new and potentially valuable resources that may be able to help us, including this Peter Fishwycke who's been e-mailing me. He may not be too happy that I haven't done anything with the Human Interface Project for him, but what he's been working on may be able to help us in some way. More on that soon too, I promise.

Let me know if anything I said triggers any ideas for you. I'm ready to start taking some action to start making some sense of all this. So thanks for your help so far but hold on, I've got one of those feelings that things are just starting to get interesting.

Dale

Grey (not Gray) Weathers

I didn't get any hits of "gray weathers" (other than some geneological info), but when I tried "grey weathers", I discovered that it is a term for Sarcen stones.

Quote:
Stones of a fine siliceous grit, vulgarly called Sarsden-stones, or the Grey-weathers, are seattered over the Berkshire and Wiltshire downs...

Quote:
Follow the path south east down through the Grey Weathers and you'll see the Devil's Den in the valley below you.

Quote:
Sarsen stones are sometimes called grey weathers because they look like grazing sheep from a distance , they are mostly found on Overton Down and Fyfield Down

Note that this last reference was also found by Push428 over at CD.

And there apparently a Sarsen stone at the Ash Grove Park Cemetery:

1st column, 4th row.

SPEC: Wes had an escape route planned in the event he was captured. It has something to do with the Sarcen Stone at AGP.

Makes sense as Sarcen/Sarson stones are very English (although I don't think exclusively/not sure) and "gray" is an American spelling....whereas "grey" is the Queen's English (We spell it "grey" here in Canada - Again not exclusively, but for the most part, kind of like your "ZEE" vs our "ZED").

Good thought to try the English version!

Also to "greasy wreath"...maybe we need to put a well-oiled bunch of flowers on the grave? Wink
