But I digress....

So doing the SF mission doesn't unlock anything?

Doubtful there is an iOS app that lets you eff around with the internal GPS - as it is, you have to have location services turned on to even look at the mission {I don't, I only use it for map & weather, find it creepy for general apps to know where I am}.

 		Two questions:

1. What exactly is the "mission" for the News? I've done every link under News but nothing happens.

2. Anybody able to load the app today? Mine keeps trying to load and stays on the home screen.

I am not sure what to do for the news mission either. I have tried sharing one of the stories, but i am not sure if you have to share them all. Let me know if you figure it out.
2. I have been able to load the app today. It gave me a chance to sign up for the sweepstakes.

From what I have gathered the News is not a mission it's News about the movie.

I did the same on accident to the Spock one do we know if we can recover those?

I drove over to the Presidio today following the "get directions" link, which utilized Apple Maps. It would direct me into, then directly out of, the Presidio in a continual loop. I never saw a Welcome to SF message, but the app did restart with a link to enter a sweepstakes.

 		I accidentally skipped the San Francisco mission, earlier, and saw it reappear after I went up a few ranks. Hopefully the same will happen with all of them. I didn't find a way to actively recover it, it just reappeared.

As for the SanFran mission, I've got an android phone and faked my location. I found I had to let the Star Trek app sit open for about 5 minutes before it automatically recognised my "location". Nothing exciting, though. Just a congratulations and 20 points. I would have been highly disappointed had I made the trip from the East Coast, just for that.

Yes, all you get is 20 points to help you get closer to your next rank but I read the Help/FAQ section in the app it states...

"We're rolling out new missions each week, and will be creating map missions that will work for our fans across the United States and Canada." Very Happy

A friend of mine who accomplished the Starfleet mission drove to the exact address (1199 E Beach, San Francisco, CA 94129) and got the 20 points as he drove in. The sweepstakes link has nothing to do with accomplishing the Starfleet mission. I am unable to go to San Francisco and I got the sweepstakes link yesterday afternoon.
