with this stories favorite number 9 (A=9 B=9) you can get the long way around to the same results Amandel got with the crypto solver.

Update @Foilhead's blog. Heyas & when Myrovh posted on FB I took it to be an (af)fine KLOO for the 4 unsolved cipher strings tho it was no dice with those for me Sad

Myrovh on FB wrote:
a. Nine is their number. b. Nine is their number. Remember well Nine is their number.

Numbers can act like magnets pushing and pulling at ones path. The more you look the smaller they become and control comes from the small.

Ahh, the Bee Gees

A breakthrough on those four lines. In this order:

Shs xyct jnmik cvwr dofsj
Wlx owoco htrbmnl fvz pazok
Qitakvpwqtn fa avgu oyo ul yasx
Euhn lrg pwows kbx smf gv

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
and using Vigenere Autokey (sneaky!) PW supercarrier

"And that sweet city woman
She moves through the light
Controlling my mind and my soul
When you reach out for me"

Is Myrovh talking about 9 cubed or something?

Very Cool Booba & THX Spoonhead for the very insightful questions to Mr. Behind. There's a new picture puzzle in the Evidence Desk with these 3 cipher strings:
Code:
Mk ea zsp'z ruzbmeegv ppnl jl zv buk sepp evgwnszjmaz sswvndrj
Ulea pmuafgqrz mgwfo khkvvuha?
qrna goq L

ETA: While I've got the ciphers' key & solve below the P.I. letters on the front of the console is a beaut clue for anyone to ponder about Wallace's present condition.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It's 3 separate Vigenére Ciphers with the Passphrase: Erwin Schrödinger

It is man's arrogance that he is the only intelligent observer
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? (From the Satires of Juvenal: Who will guard the guards themselves?)
Mars two E (Maybe E is Euler's famous "irrational" number, suggesting a duel, irrational existence?)

Well Pi does fit with the irrational numbers idea.

Erwin Schrödinger? Impressive! Someday you have to clue me in on how you pulled that rabbit out of that hat!

Finally got round to the evidence desk.

Waves/particles and no cat. All has become clear. Nice job Amandel.

Lotsa angry kittahs from Ulthar in that console? Mine are "tried & failed". Being desperate I tineyed those pebbles & got a wiki hit as "Gobi desert sand" tho I'm certain now it's cat litter. Laughing Truly don't comprehend the ciphers' relevance to the code or why Lord Houl hasn't bitten off those 729 directors' heads like a mantis? Input plse.

The second Burroughs Mars book is The God of Mars

but I don't know enough to pick an E.

The second quote is generally paraphrased to "who watches the watchmen".

As for the first quote I can find no other reference.

OK, new post cos this could be quite long. Had a nice chat with Tyrell yesterday.

Quote:

Spoon: Dear sir,

A friend of mine, Behindyou, informs me that you have connections with the Empire. Similarly, I have an interest in virology and genetics and was wondering if you could assist me in obtaining funding for some of my own research projects. What areas of study do you think would give me the best chances.

Many Thanks,

Spoonhead.

Tyrell: Mr Spoonhead,

I have many connections including the Empire although I find the Empire to be somewhat restrictive with their funds these days. I wouldn't pin all your hopes on the Empire, they do not hold any of our interests at heart. The Empire is chaos incarnate I wouldn't trust them if I were you.

Speaking of chaos, I do have an ongoing research project with a group of investors to which you maybe able to help.

The question however is can I trust you, you maybe an agent of the Empire for all I know?!?

Spoon: Thank you for your reply,

According to my friend you are part of the Empire, is there anything I can do to clarify my intentions.

Tyrell: Everyone is part of the Empire except maybe the Russians.

Some us however like our freedoms.

Tell me what you like? Maybe we can find common ground.

Spoon: I have spent some time studying the statistic and modelling patterns for viral transmission, optimizing/ retarding infection rates and means of infection.

Tyrell: Interesting but what of chaos?

Spoon: Do you follow the works of Lorenz and his butterflies?

Tyrell: A single butterfly that can cause a storm.

How would go about creating chaos?

Spoon: Any kind of instability in the initial conditions of any system will lead to a degree of uncertainty in any predicted results. So your butterfly could cause a doozy of a storm.

Tyrell: Applied that to your genetics and viral transmissions, what would the best method of control once the chaos is unleashed?

Spoon: Ideally, you will need to lock down your initial conditions. Prepare for immunities, antivirals or worst case isolation. You need to be fully prepared to defend against the butterfly before you let it flap it's wings. Mutation is going to be your worst case scenario.

Tyrell: "lock down your initial conditions" - Do you mean deployment into a small area?

Spoon: Do you have concerns about infecting yourself or your team?

Tyrell: I, my team and my investors are well protected against chaos.

Spoon: Do you want to give the authorities time to recover, maybe formulate a response?

Tyrell: It would not be chaos surely?

Spoon: So a massive event to cause widespread panic and undermine the status quo. Do you have the means to introduce a new order after the event. Antidote maybe.

Tyrell: Chaos is merely the beginning the spark that ignites the true journey of the enlightened.

The ensuing feast will return the balance and open the Riven.

Spoon: How you get to be one of the enlightened?

This is when he signed off.

Any thoughts?

Edit for reply

Tyrell: My friend Fred showed me the way.

Now we have some kind of order of seniority.

Mega TY! Mailed Fred yesterday but he is unresponsive. Sad My thought was with Tyrell sounding so dangerous & deranged to chk the uF archives about the Riven HTH

The 729 editor about the Zone and the Riven wrote:
Location is underneath Dun Troddan in the north of Great Britain, entrance well hidden from locals. Although I
suppose if someone was purposefully looking for it, it wouldn't take them long. Bonnnybridge's UFOs are obviously
The Dern's manifestations in attempt to draw interest into the area. Whilst the riven is no more there still is a tenuous link between realities.

We have retained our harvest facility within the cavern, it also used for focusing the component field for obvious reasons. The increased pollution interference has a distinct effect upon the field.

And in reply to my three questions F.P.Sun just wrote:
I will take your questions in reverse if I may:

Mars two E - Is the 'E' actually capitalised? If so then perhaps an initial, if not then perhaps it does not belong in its current location. Just applying simple logic, I do not know what it is exactly.

Lord Houl is currently the apex of his kind and quite old indeed. He commands many and has considerable power in and outside the Empire. My confidence in him is not required.

Any communications that is completely relied upon could cripple a country, Voxigraph is no different. Although I think unlimited access to the messages and information would be far more useful don't you think?

Fred.

In reply to Fred 1st mailing if I "knew who Lord Houl was" & that Fred's "health is perfect as always" I sent a 2nd email yesterday with a Voxigraph tease question. Laughing
Amandel wrote:
Fred,

Really, I want to share our exchange, particularly with one friend who'd use his head to spoon up a tasty meal, but your amuse bouche is no where juicy enough. Your question about Lord Houl and your dealings with him seems transparent, especially as you're aware I know little of him beyond the obvious sources.

About Voxigraph I've privately deduced three startling facts: 1) that the Voxigraph system can be used to impede or even cripple a country's communications; 2)....oh wait, first it's your turn to supply some specifics about Lord Houl and in confidence your collusion with him, please.

While I'm quickly losing interest this may be due to sleep deprivation that not even a cat-nap could improve. Am planning an early night giving you tons of time to reply in at least the same length as I have. Finally, as a riddle what would you personally deduce "Mars two E" could entail? That is what's purring on my mind.

Fred and I have sort of a frenemy history & it's true I was quite pooped out. Now am even more baffled by what FY just replied after my latest code word misser.

Tried a new angle. May have pushed it a bit hard

Quote:

Spoon: Dr Tyrell

I have had an idea for a project. We could set up a location in the voxigraph network where potential users could go and connect. We could encourage them to submit fantographs of themselves and their acquaintances and declare their relationships. I bet if we can award points for introducing friends then they will give us all their personal information freely for us to make use of as we will.

I believe this will work, do you of anyone with the skills and influence to make this happen.

Many thanks.

Spoon.

Tyrell: Sounds intriguing it could end up being quite chaotic all those people, but what could you call it.

Facegraph maybe or Voxiface.

Spoon: Do you think you could sell it to Lord Houl for me?

Still waiting on a response.

Reply from Tyrell

Quote:
I have never spoken to Lord Houl he does all his business through his manservant Rogi, an unpleasant gentlemen indeed. Lord Houl does not come into the Voxigraph office ever.

I believe Fred has spoken to him though.

Over to you Amandel!
