Just got this a few minutes ago, guys - this is uber-important!

 		Okay, I popped off an email to Mercurious last night, and I got a reply earlier this morning. Here it is:

Mercurious, this si Special Operative MACAVITY, of Operation: GATECRASHER.

We need more time to find the key - please try to disrup the power supply to the Nightmare Cannon. Slow down its charging rate - we need every second you can buy for us.

If we can't find the key in time, though, you may have to infect the Nightmare control systems with a destructive computer virus.

Only complete destruction of all code in the system will suffice - and, I'm sorry to say, that will likely mean that you, the Guard, the Roberts AI, and all of Section 32 will have to be wiped as well.

I know it seems callous, gentlemen, but if we can't find the key, that's our only hope of stopping Nightmare. We'll do everything we can, Mercurious, but if we fail, it's up to you. A computer virus may be our only shot at destroying Nightmare if the key search fails, and the one best suited to the job is a virus known as Format.C - a particularly nasty piece of work, designed to format a computer's hard drives.

Find Format.C, or a similar virus, and keep it in reserve. Only if we Gatecrashers fail are you to activate the virus - and before you release the virus, isolate the Gateway systems from the Internet so that it cannot spread.

I pray to whatever gods there are that we don't have to use the virus!

 		For completeness, here is the piece of chat that led us to Merc sending the encoded version of the key through email.

We then used simple substitution to get the final key and submitted it to the guard. All in ten minutes Wink
