If the Operator only hunts people every so often, and the people are believed to be hallucinating, how exactly is he any more harmless than MH has shown him to be?

He attacks one person/group of people every decade or so, and they all go missing. No one knows what it's really about because most of those missing were certifiably insane.

Exactly. If the affected people are just written off as being insane, how would the town as a whole "know" about the Operator in any real sense?

They wouldn't, it would just be kind of a local legend.

Ok. I think we're in agreement to a point here. My take on this is that a story could be made where-in this has happened before to some degree, and there are cameras (still photo) and paintings based on their own events which have made their way to the antique shop, whose owner may have some clue that something related is up, but not really seeing some overall threat.

I'm not talking about a local legend here, I'm talking about scenarios where the events are similar, but almost no one knows what's going on at all because the media on which it was "reliably" recorded was so distorted or rare, and the peoples' spoken and written word were written off as hallucinations and delusion. THAT could feasibly lead to a short web series where a person/group investigates old cameras etc. related to these stories and trying to piece together events until they are ultimately too involved, etc. No a completely original idea, but it could be made in a unique way to work.

I say short because that style of story wouldn't play out too well over a LONG period of time. When I say short, I'm thinking 30-40 episodes in maybe 2 release cycles.

Did anyone notice the brief distortion at the beginning of the video? It's between 0:12-0:16 seconds, I think. Blink and you miss it...

Location: The Dark Margin

So earlier today I was going for a walk with my girlfriend through a wooded area near my home where my brothers and I used to explore when we were kids. I definitely told her this story as we were walking, just to fuck with her. As I was finishing I was distantly thinking about how shitty it would be if telling that story would get me slender marked, and as I was thinking that I looked over and saw someone in black on the edge of the nearby dog path. Peeing off into the woods. Still bad enough for a momentary pants-peeing.

Yeah, that's nothing. There's a mountain near a lake by me where ancient Indian rites were performed in before the 16th century, then when the settlers came over they used the land to perform rituals involving human sacrifice and black magic. You wanna pee your pants? Go there at night.

You live in Silent Hill?

I always thought this spooky-but-no-origin-related story could explain why the fuck did the camera froze after Tim drank water from his bottle in entry 17, plus the distortion that occurs when Jay films a water bottle inside the house in entry 16. When he goes back to the house he even touches the bottle and automatically starts coughing. I hate the fact that it was totally forgotten, because i really wanna know what's up with it.

Maybe the dehydration stuff is related to this.

No, I live in Pennsylvania-- which, coincidentally, is home to the real-life Silent Hill. Centralia-- a burned out and mostly abandoned mining town just outside of Harrisburg. I've only been there once, but it's a strange place comprised mostly of dead roads with huge cracks in the ground that spew smoke from the underground mine fires.

Anyway, the place I was talking about is called Haycock Mountain. But only a handful of people know exactly where to go to find the sacrificial grounds-- I'm one of them. You can find directions online, but they're unreliable.

That reminds me, I'm probably going to take a trip out to Centralia next week or the week after. Perhaps next Wednesday.

Piece of advice: Go during the day-- I went in the middle of the night (and the dead of winter) and it was so dark that I couldn't see my hand in front of my face. My friends and I had to use industrial strength flashlights just to see three feet ahead of us.

Read the graffiti on the dead highways, some of it is surprisingly profound.

Be careful not to fall into the steaming holes on the ground-- they lead straight down into the fires that burned the town to the ground fifty years ago, and the fires are estimated to burn for another two hundred to eight hundred years-- so there's no one who can rescue you from there. There's no cops on patrol looking for "trespassers," because nothing there (outside the three still-inhabited houses) that's off-limits or boarded off, so you can do pretty much whatever you want as long as you don't take a four-wheeler in-- that's like an invitation to get arrested. Other than that, Centralia belongs to everyone.

Oh and one more thing. Don't go into the woods unless you're ghost hunting. We went into the woods and despite not being able to see anything, I heard lots of strange noises I couldn't explain.

PS: Keep an eye out for "Kwik Snack." It's just funny. You'll know it when you see it.

This is just good advice in general.

Dude, what are you talking about? The deep south is chock full of spooky stuff! You've got haunted plantations and haunted abandoned theme parks!
