The app isn't an ARG anyway. They are seperate. The app is an OOG construct. It removes all suspension of reality. The fact that they are supposedly going to use the app to push clues for the "ARG" pisses me off beyond all.

The fact that they opened sign ups for the website and have not only done nothing with it, but then released this lousy excuse for an app also pisses me off.

I'm not impressed in the least.

Hmmm, reminds me of RocketPoppeteers. Who directed that again?....

Ya I know I was just trying to remind others that when it does start they'll let us know probly through email and not some elaborate deal. Very Happy

I think you may have a HUGE misconception about something. The director has NOTHING to do with the promotions {except possibly suggesting they are used, but nothing in depth such as content}. ARGs, apps, or otherwise. As much as the teams that work on JJ's "ARGs" seem to do shit jobs {The Lost Experience, anyone?} It isn't a reflection on him.

Oh yeah Razz It is sort of comforting that they're still saying we'll know when it starts.

Sorry, but I don't believe that. JJ and his production studio must have some input into the "direction" of the ARG. For example, look at FlynnLives or the recent Marc Webb Spider-Man ARG for decent direction/narrative. Even the Prometheus ARG had input from the film's writers.

Surely if the previous ARGs were so bad (which i agree they were!) they would try someone else?!

Well, JJs secrecy can sometimes bring some inconsistencies between the movie and ARG (like Cloverfield), but in anyway, his ARGs (if they haven't collapsed like DharmaWantsYou) were always pretty cool. Surely, they were often led by various viral agencies all over the world. But his "mystery box" conception was mostly used in all these ARGs (perhaps the PMs had to watch JJ's TED speech every morning before work) Smile

Oh! I forgot to say before... It looks like areyouthe1701.com is using google analytics to track where people are signing up from, so it seems like the PMs should know how many people are signing up from other countries (besides US and Canada)!

If I remember correctly it was determined that a fellow who we actually named that worked out of Bad Robots HQ here in Santa Monica CA was in charge of the Super 8 ARG..

I don't think they need google analytics for that because i remember there is a country form in the registration. Wink

*facepalm* I feel dumb because I definitely tried to sign up again to make sure nothing changed XD

Hopefully they're using it for what major cities people are near, then!

i know i always post pictures about possible leads but in the EW pictures released today there are a couple of interesting shoots with a lot of numbers, that remind me of how last arg had an encoded ip address in groups somewhere. does anyone have a high res version?

Wth is going on? I am trying to get to the EW pics and almost every single fricking time, no matter if I start at G4TV.com or popwatch.ew.com or whatever... when I go to access them into EW a long wierdo FB link that starts with
"https://www.facebook.com/dialog/permissions...[ending with]joey"
is coming up...

was finally able to see them at http://collider.com/star-trek-2-into-darkness-movie-images/

The only image I see numbers on is the shot of Abrams talking to someone and the Enterprise "screen" in front of them has a sequence of
[208][209][210]
[211][212][213]
on the upper left of the photo
plus other various numbers scattered throughout the clear screen.

These pictures are in the magazine copy of EW that I received in the mail today. Numbers are pretty clear. Nothing really is jumping out at me though.
