Also, TallulahBelle. The illustrations your husband has created so far are JUST INCREDIBLE (I especially like the Tower and the Chariot one). Could he pls make me one too sometime. (Also, if possible, and ordinarily I don't like to tell artists what to do, but not with the middle fifth figure of the dancer on the card unless he puts some clothes on her, haha.)

BAZINGA AGAIN!!! WHOOOHOOO!

Quote:
Nicko,

You are correct, and this is the next step in your journey. These objects will come to Anna in various ways, and it's up to The Keepers to collect and present them.

Keep in mind two things:

These are objects, not cards.
They will appear in Anna's story: you do not already have possession of them.

Nice work again!

There is also a new post up:

"When you are ready to begin you may come to me" ~FD February 20, 2013
Anna pondered the note. Aiden swore he didn't send it to her. The cards were a gift from her father, could the note be from him? But the cards were sealed in cellophane as if they came straight from the factory, or wherever they made tarot cards.

Anna was beyond frustrated. She couldn't figure out why her father gave her the cards or what he was asking of her in her dreams. She was tempted to think the whole thing was in her head, but the dreams were so real…

Then she remembered someone else who knew her father, someone else who might be able to help her. There was a man who worked at the university teaching photography who had been been a colleague of her father's. He had been to their house for dinner many times. His first name was Michael but she couldn't remember his last name. She decided to bike over the university after school. If she looked at the faculty director it might trigger her memory.

So the cards are from her Father, but she is unsure about the note. Now to be on the lookout for the objects.

Dear Happy Phantom,

You think like a true Keeper, always on top of things and always on the lookout for clues.

However, we are sorry to say that we have no idea why wordpress placed that 252 in place of the title when title was chosen.

It has no significance to The Keepers or Anna's story.

Sincerely,

Thank you. As you say we often miss what is right in front of us, and I try not to miss anything.

I was thinking, on the table in front of him/her in most decks, the magician has 4 specific items.
If my understanding is correct each item is a representation of the four suits, which also represent the elements.
The wand is air, the disc/pentacle is earth, the sword is fire, and the cup is water... am I correct?
Are these the items that Anna's father needs to be presented?

I am eager to learn about the Tarot

From: cardkeepersSPLATyahoo.com

Yes, you are correct in that each item represents an element: earth, air, fire, water. These are the items Anna's father (in her dreams), wants her to bring to him.

okay.... so how do we collect and assist in presenting these items?

Lego building contest would be so awesome Very Happy

I was wondering if the items are in the text as items or as elements. Like if there's someting about fire, we should take that as hint. But I'm probably just overthinking things again Rolling Eyes

I wonder if the matches from the latest BeFireSafe-blogpost is the fire item she should put on her fathers table? I guess it will be an actual sword, though. We'll know once there's two items of the same line of thought.

We've got a whole fire department to choose from, surely? Not to mention a fireman? Smile

But it needs to be items. Something she can actually place on a table. Aiden would be.. akward.
Also, I'm hoping the items will start showing up in the story after we figured out what he wanted.

Office Hours February 20, 2013
Anna went to check out out Michael Lawler's office after the woman at the front desk told Anna his last name and where she could find him. She was completely embarrassed to see that his door was open and he had office hours. She tried to sneak away but he spotted her immediately.

"Anna! What are you doing here? Come in, you must be freezing."

Anna went inside and plopped down in an ugly orange chair facing his desk.

"Sorry to bug you, Mr. Lawler, but I was just passing by and remembered you from dinner at our house."

"First of all, call me Mike, and secondly, I've been thinking about you after I heard what happened…to your father. I keep thinking I should check in on your mother but I don't know what to say."

"That would be nice. You don't have to act weird around her or anything. She's totally OK. You know, in front of others."

He nodded. "I get it."

There was an awkward silence as he flipped through some papers on his desk and Anna glanced surreptitiously around his office. It was filled with moldy old books and dusty papers, but nothing looked interesting, or like it had even been touched in awhile. She thought about giving him a feather duster for his birthday.

"So what have you been up to," he asked, standing up and looking out the little window that overlooked campus.

"Here's the thing. I came here because I got a deck of tarot cards from my father for my birthday a few days ago, and it had this note in it." She handed him the slip of paper she carried around in her back pocket.

"I can't figure out who the note is from, who FD is, or what I should do next, if anything. And this may sound totally crazy, but I've been having dreams about my father and they are more than dreams, if you know what I mean."

Mike nodded. "That's not all that crazy." He looked down at the slip of paper. "This doesn't ring any bells, but why don't you tell me everything."

"Where should I begin?"

"Begin at the beginning."

Anna started telling him everything, from her detailed dreams to her visit with fireman Aiden. As he listened he fiddled with his letter opener, poking the tips of fingers absentmindedly. Finally, he looked up. "That's quite a story, Anna."

"Like I said, it's crazy."

"I didn't say that, but I agree with you that you need more information. I really don't think I have anything that can help. Why don't we table this for now, and when I come visit we can chat some more."

Anna nodded and got up to leave. She noticed a paperback novel on his desk with a mobius strip on the cover. It was called The Eight. She picked it up. "Is this any good?"

"I just finished it. You can borrow it if you want. Do you like chess?"

"Maybe. My father had just started to teach me when…"

"Well, take it, and if you don't like it you can pass it along to someone else."

Anna shoved the book into the pocket of her jacket, shook Mike's hand, and left.

IMO the letter opener could be considered a sword.

Here's information about the book that Michael loaned to Anna:

The Eight
by Katherine Neville

Quote:
Computer expert Cat Velis is heading for a job to Algeria. Before she goes, a mysterious fortune teller warns her of danger, and an antique dealer asks her to search for pieces to a valuable chess set that has been missing for years...In the South of France in 1790 two convent girls hide valuable pieces of a chess set all over the world, because the game that can be played with them is too powerful....
When two young women in France of 1790 discover the Montglane Chess Service in Montglane Abbey, their Abbess recognizes its mystic ability to provide anyone playing it with unlimited power and desperately scatter its pieces around the world. But in 1972, computer expert Catherine "Cat" Velis is hired to recover the chess pieces--and is caught up in a nefarious, globe-spanning conspiracy.

I actually read that book; weird, not the sort of thing I typically read. Don't remember a blessed thing about it though. Doubt I still have it; will have a look around.
