I am now wondering if the open box photo goes with the elements. It is the same box the sword and key are on. Makes me think the sword is the key to opening the box? I am still trying to figure out the blanks, though. I am stuck.

With maybe the last word fitting "mirror" emailed ""Be faithful to that which exists within yourself." (A. Gide) Seems to fit Anna's story & if it's fail-whale am stuck, too. Laughing

Awesome Amandel, I sent that in too.
Hope we are right, as nothing else makes much sense.

As for the other part of the challenge..... I am not sure but maybe we are supposed to send in our own 'elements'? I don't have any fancy swords or letter openers though, I wonder if a kitchen knife would do. Razz

Wowzers! When it rains....it pours clues. This image just arrived from Winter Sylvana with no message except "see attached". Shocked

Awesome work team! Here is what grabs my attention in the letter:

There are 2 dashes in the upper left.
The phrases "did that come across" and "not let me down" remind me of crossword clues.

Duh, I bet that is what they did for fun on Sunday mornings. I emailed as such.

I leave for a few days and the whole world explodes...

Well, great job everyone who worked on this! I only wish I could have been more help. Worshippy

Now reading over your posts, was the "be faithful to [...]" solution part of the SELF evident challange or the fill-in-the-blank? I know you guys interacted with the fill-in-the-blank but I wasn't sure precisley what happened with the other challenge. Maybe I missed it.

I'll look over the old posts.

This ARG is a joy so far. Wink I wonder what will happen next.

Excellent work! Anna and her father used to do crossword puzzles. What this means to you, and to Anna, will become evident soon.

I think the elements are for the SELF evident challenge. Whatever that might be?

Any thoughts on dCd either?

The way monograms work, those are the initials for Devin D. Collins, Anna's Father.

Don't worry about the SELF evident challenge. I figured out that this is another opportunity to send in a card. Winter Sylvana told me to wait for a clue later today on how and when I needed to turn in my card.

I am perfectly okay with us choosing someone else's card if that makes more sense.

I am just happy to figure something out! Yay!!! I am not useless!

I am probably supposed to keep that to myself but I felt deceitful not saying anything.

Edit: Oh right and based on teh_lisa's crossword puzzle e-mail, I am thinking the clue might come in the form of a crossword puzzle. I only think this because she used the word "evident" again. It was probably intentional. I could be wrong, of course, about the form of the clue.

I think it should be up to you in the end, but my suggestion would be The Sun or The Hanged Man.

My, did you guys see the new cardkeeper blog stuff? This just gets better and better!

Quote:
Cross. Words. February 25, 2013
Anna waited until her mother was asleep to go into her father's office. She looked around carefully at first. She was afraid to touch anything. Finally, she got bolder about sifting through the endless piles and going through the many drawers. She discovered several things that she thought were significant. A manilla envelope stuffed with letters, newspaper clippings, and a bunch of random artifacts. A little notebook that her father used for doodling while he was on the telephone which contained the occasional random notes and phone numbers. A rosary with a crucifix, which was unusual considering that Anna's father wasn't Catholic or religious. It had an inscription on it that Anna didn't understand, but she knew who would.

Back in her room she lay in bed fingering the crucifix and wondering, as she did often, who FD was. She knew she should go back to the firehouse but she was shy about bugging Aiden again.

Finally, she drifted off to sleep, thinking about how when she and Papa did crosswords or played scrabble, words came so easily to him, but she always struggled to find the right ones.

and after that (nearest to the top):

Evidence of Self February 25, 2013
The Card Keepers have proven themselves, time and time again, as intelligent, creative, and loyal. Before we tell the rest of Anna's story we want to reach a greater understanding of what the cards, or being a Card Keeper, means to you. This can be done in a variety of ways, including:

Submit a still life photograph or drawing that symbolizes your card and/or one of the four elements used in Tarot.
Submit a self-portrait (photograph or drawing) that symbolizes your card and/or one of the four elements.
Each submission received via email will result in unlocking one puzzle piece. The Card Keepers may, individually or collectively, unlock as many puzzle pieces as they like. Each unlocked puzzle piece will be revealed on the blog.

I might not be able to do this so effectively (that is to say, in a timely manner), if it were to be me to submit. Also, I realize that I can't submit anyone else's card -- I have to submit my card. It sounds like the clue pieces we will receive would benefit from everyone participating, at any rate. Let's do this, keeper pals! Laughing
