Tharol, the guy who skips through videos to find parts he likes, wants more dialogue?

I actually agree with Tharol. Or, rather, instead of just "more talking," just have more character development. Unfortunately, many series just jump straight into the weird stuff after one or two short videos. There should be enough videos before in order to provide basic character development.

I'd really like to see more Slenderserieses attempting to give their channels reasonable excuses for existing completely independently of any supernatural shit. Far too many seem to just barge straight into the slenderman stalking with no room for actually developing the sense that these characters and their lives are actually real, which often results in zero immersion. EMH is the only one I've seen to make a fair fist of this technique.

This one starts paranormal and cheesy, but gets "real" way later on in the series: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheDeadAreWatching

You know, I have to say, the whole "blog hijacked by Slenderman" thing doesn't seem desirable to me. It doesn't really make sense. Why would Slenderman be going around stalking random bloggers?

It seems far less contrived if the blog's purpose is SOMETHING that could turn out related to Slenderman. Amateur investigation of unsolved disappearances. Paranormal stuff. I don't know.

I'd like to see a series that is predicated on what the creator or creators actually want to do, and not the "established conventions" of the current mythos. Someone bucking trends.

Even as a creator myself, i agree that pushing out to establish some new ideas is great. Trying to preserve or create(and without meaning to, contradict) is up to the discretion of the story-teller.

It seems to me that tons of people, especially creators/potential creators and hardcore-involved fans, compare Slender Man/Slenderman to a Lovecraftian monster ('eldritch horror', I think, is the favorite term).

So, I'd like to just point out, for the record, that most of Lovecraft's stuff involves horrors from beyond our universe, etc., coming to ours and messing with people for no discernible reason or no reason at all - or because cult members arranged it. For example, in the Call of Cthulhu, it's pretty much an accident that the monster is even revived in the first place, and there's a significant amount of cult worship involved with the monster.

So, as far as "reasons why a monster would even bother with scaring the crap out of human beings," we've got:
1) No (comprehensible) reason
2) Cult meddling
3) Accidental discovery

Additionally, Lovecraft's stories are really quite simple, with very similar plot lines and (almost always) a first-person narrator with little characterization. What makes these stories so enjoyable, then? This is an open question. Just something for everyone to think about.

(I realize that Lovecraft's writings are not the sole inspiration for Slender Man/the Fear Mythos, but I thought this would be a good place to start for anyone thinking about delving deeper into it and/or creating a series.)

Very true, but there are series that change this convention entirely. Say, in my series the Slender Man is an entity that wants to reach our world, just so it can take over a human body and have corporeal form.
