Puzzazz Kickstarter Puzzlehunt!
Puzzlehunt throughout 2013

Puzzazz is running a Kickstarter campaign to fund a year of unique puzzles. The campaign includes a free mini-puzzlehunt hosted on Kickstarter. The campaign and the mini puzzlehunt run through 8pm EST January 23rd.

Pledge at the $19 level or above and you'll receive the year of puzzles, one puzzle a month (or more -- see stretch goals). Each puzzle will be a large, unique, interesting puzzle, comparable to a Sunday crossword puzzle. All puzzles will be brand new, created specifically for the year of puzzles.

Pledge a bit more and you can get some special, limited edition puzzles:

Something appropriately mysterious in an envelope that we'll mail you (yes, we mean snail mail).

An awesome puzzle T-shirt that will be the envy of all your friends.

A wonderful physical puzzle that will let you solve with both your fingers and your brain.

**And we've just added another backer goal -- if we get 499 or more backers to the campaign, we'll throw in a second special, limited-edition puzzle for everyone backing the campaign at the THINKER LEVEL or higher.

**We also added another stretch goal for puzzles. We still have the goal of $16,993 for 6 holiday puzzles (a total of 1Cool but we just added another goal of $24,989 to take us to 26 puzzles for the year -- a puzzle every 2 weeks (with 6 of those being special holiday puzzles).

I couldn't tell whether our new member was quoting the Kickstarter blurbs, or whether the "we" above is the new member speaking.

Either way, this is the link.

I watched all of the clues slide past me in the video but didn't have the energy at the time to grab them all nor to solve the trail alone. Is anyone else giving these a whirl?

Hi, everybody. This is Roy Leban from Puzzazz. We don't know who jollyhaven is, but they're quoting things we wrote, so you can roughly consider "we" to be us.

Of course we're biased, but the free mini puzzlehunt we embedded in the campaign is really fun, and the Year of Puzzles it's funding is going to be a blast.

Read the main page and the updates for lots of great info and the eleven small puzzles that we've released so far.

Feel free to discuss puzzles and answers. We recommend spoiler alerts so that people don't get spoiled by mistake, but solving with friends in person or on a forum is completely legit. Our goal is that you have fun.

BTW, the weird smiley face in the middle of jollyhaven's post is supposed to say "a total of 18".

/Roy

Maze of Games Kickstarter Puzzle Trail

Mike Selinker / Lone Shark Games is releasing a narrative puzzle book that has already amassed well over $100k in contributions. And he's hidden a series of puzzles in the Kickstarter page (as well as his media interviews) to keep people amused.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/loneshark/the-maze-of-games-an-interactive-puzzle-novel

So far, the confirmed puzzles include:

  • A mini puzzle hunt embedded in the Kickstarter page itself;
  • A puzzle hidden in his interview on Wired with Matt Forbeck (http://www.wired.com/geekdad/2013/02/kickstarting-the-maze-of-games/)
  • A puzzle at the end of StoryForward podcast (http://www.storyforwardpodcast.com/2013/02/029-a-passion-for-making-people-squirm/)
  • A puzzle in his Reddit AMA (http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/1919k7/im_mike_selinker_game_and_puzzle_designer_author/)
  • A puzzle in the Penny Arcade interview (http://penny-arcade.com/report/editorial-article/the-maze-of-games-the-puzzle-novel-i-wrote-eighteen-years-too-early), and
  • Frequent puzzles in the Kickstarter updates, unlocking pieces of a bigger puzzle/maze

When you find an answer, you're supposed to put it in at puzzazz.com/mazeofgames

~~~~~ We aren't really too keen on posting kickstarters here in general, but given the gamification of these two, gonna let it slide. That said, I'm on my phone and not doing the research on if these two are really related, but they are the same company so I'm just going to merge them ~Pixie
They are not related, and not the same company. The Maze of Games is using Puzzazz the same way USA Networks is using SocialSamba - as a platform.
...and no, you do not have to contribute to engage in either puzzle trail -- either for the now expired Puzzazz Kickstarter (still playable) or the Maze of Games one.
