Besides simple speculation, I feel like my main point here is that Marble Hornets and other big series by casual watchers get labeled as ARGs, when they are not. Now, considering the history of cult sci fi movies having an actual ARG leading up to the theatrical release, if Marble Hornets the movie had one it would open up a lot of eyes to the rest of unFiction.

It would also, as I stated before, finally justify this MH subforum with hardly any ARG elements. Most of them occurred during, hmm, season one with the red tower live tweet event. In fact, due to vandalism of that sight the MH twitter even deleted some of those pictures, so very little evidence of an ARG exists anymore.

Furthermore, for several months, the MH twitter seemed to serve more as a way of giving people an OOG heads up when the next entry would come out. Of course, "Jay" tweeted it, but it just felt like Troy saying "chill out guys, I'm done editing, it will be up tonight". MH's shift away from its scant ARG roots to me has made the presentation and suspension of disbelief subpar. Season one enraptured me more due to how many tweets were put out that were informal of themselves, and not simply restated during each entry.

Finally, my hope with the MH movie is that due to its format it will create a better suspension of disbelief, hold immersion, and possibly run an ARG before theatrical release.

But what vandalism of the tower and why did that make them take the pictures down?

Because it basically told people the exact location of the tower, making it easy for people to find it and they started drawing op symbols and stuff all over it.

ANYWAY, there's already a thread for the movie. I understand, you'd love to have an ARG going with it - Marble Hornets itself is more of a youtube film then an ARG - we all would, but you can talk about it in the MARBLE HORNETS BECOMING A MOVIE?!?!?!?! thread.

We could, but because this is supposed to have a different angle than the thread about MH becoming movie, I don't see a problem with it. This thread has been up for a while and the mod doesn't seem to have a problem with it. Calm down. Also, pro tip, don't insult the moderator of the board you're posting in.

It'd be nice if they did but I highly doubt it. Remember when MH started off they said it wasn't meant to be an ARG.

Just because MH itself isn't meant to be an ARG doesn't mean that having one leading up to the movie couldn't happen... I agree that it would be lovely to have some interactive element to the unveiling of the film, man. Dragging the internet fanbase into the launching of the movie would seem more genre savvy than the usual sci-fi ARG intro.

I think it'd probably be easier for them to get something like this off the ground, given the kind of audience and attention they've already got.
