Re: Memo to DC

We have something of yours that you should retrieve ASAP. There are three locations:

1. Quest 107
2. All-American
3. PHX hub

I think T-Belle is right about the geocaching. That is because, not only are we speaking to ghosts, as it were, but we are also asked to be quiet about it. On the page T-Belle linked it says:
Do NOT seek this one after dark, and be as discreet as possible.

This is likely for All-American. I'm being bloody useless, but here it is. These two lines (might) help us figure it out.

The wise one works at a higher elevation,
at the center of the track-tion.

And this is the Phoenix Sky Train, as determined by teh_lisa. This is likely the PHX hub referenced by Sylvana (the airport connection probably isn't relevant).

EDIT:

Laughing It appears you beat me to it also! Oops!

I wish we knew what the travel vouchers were for. Are they flying, which I would assume based on "I fly away" or taking a train (as I hate assumptions). The geocaching thing fits so well, but I just don't see them going off to Texas as well? I mean Anna is only 13 at this point, right? Her Mother would freak out once she got the note that they were gone.

That fits wonderfully! Also, "The arena finished renovations in 2003, which added an air-conditioned glassed pavilion to keep people cool while waiting in line for tickets or before events. " And now makes me really think the Quest 107 has to be something in Phoenix. There is a storage place called StorQuest which is on the North 107 in Peoria, right outside Phoenix. Maybe the key fits a locker there?

Laughing Since Spoonhead ninjed me it would be rude not to say Yipee Spoon! Do agree with All American/US Airways Center! And there's an update titled "To the Valley".

geocaching is fun... I started to get into right before I found ARG. Plus I am only a few hours away from Austin and I love old cemeteries. Why the heck have I not heard of the spirit trail? I'll have to get into it more Smile Even if it isn't a part of Cardkeepers, that's pretty nifty.

I got the email too and signed in to share it, but I see you guys are already almost finished solving it... too quick for me lol

To the Valley
They stopped at a gas station to fill up and buy drinks and snacks.

"Why are we going to Phoenix?" Anna asked, filling a cup with ice and Coke.

Martin shrugged. "I don't know, but I'll figure it out when I get there. There was a strange memo among the travel vouchers." He handed it to Clara who looked it over and handed it to Anna.

Anna read it. "It sounds like a riddle."

"It does indeed," said Martin, "and I love a good riddle."

Clara put her arm around Anna. "Martin is a genius. Like, a real one. He's been tested. He's also worked on computer systems for the airlines, major banks, a bunch of big companies. He's actually a real chess champion if you can believe that.

Martin snorted and sipped his coffee. "Basically, I'm a big nerd. I have no idea why your sister is dating me."

Anna laughed, but she knew. He was nerdy, kind of tall and scrawny and he kept pushing his glasses back onto his nose and looking harried and distracted. But there was something really likeable and trustworthy about him. Instead of feeling wary about jumping in the car with her sister and this total stranger, she was more excited than ever about where this adventure was going to take her.

To the Vally makes me think of Sun Valley...where there is a restaurant called the Hole in One. I am really reaching now Smile

Am I the only one here thinking we are being asked to go to those three places and pick up a drop of some kind?

Hey, I had a thought:

Do those places like the Phoenix International Airport and their train station have rent-able lockers?

Do we have anyone from Phoenix here? I'm about 8 hours away so it's not like I could hop in the car and take a quick drive. Wink

I think we are forgetting this part of the story is not current, right? I don't know if there are actually going to be real drops, but maybe? I have a friend going to Phoenix but not until March 21.

ETA: So there isn't really a Phoenix Amtrak station. You go to a part of the Airport in PHX and take a van to Flagstaff. Neither Flagstaff Amtrak or the waiting area for the vans in Phoenix have lockers. It does seem there are places you can hop on the Amtrak in Phoenix though. The website is a bit confusing. The Phoenix Metro Center, Sky Harbor (but it mentions vans), and The Phoenix Greyhound Station. None of which seem to have lockers.

New blog post with some sort of puzzle in it:

Quote:

On the Road
by cardkeepers

As they drove Anna looked through and read the Arizona tourism brochures and Clara continued to look through the envelope.

Clara held up a small piece of paper.

"Here is a note with a street name on it: North 107th Ave. Isn't 107 on the memo? Any idea what's there?"

Martin shrugged. "I'm not familiar with Phoenix but we can stop and ask, or we can look at a map. Anything else on the note?"

"Just some gibberish." Clara handed the note to Martin who squinted at it.

The author knows: tety bau k trqeaio jff sow

"No idea. Keep looking for clues."

Clara went back to the envelope and Anna went back to her brochures.

StorQuest, the storage place, is on North 107.
