I think Jessica's safe is important, but I think the whole code thing just needs a bit of suspension of disbelief.
How so?
And if it was important, what could Jay do about it now?
He could try to explain to the staff that he left something in one of the safes...
OR reuse his famous Hotel Documentary line.

[SPEC] The note left in Jessica's room Who gave Jay the combination to his safe and why Jay found out the combination to his safe through the note left in Jessica's room after she disappeared in Entry #33. In Entry #52, Jay and Jessica decide on the combination. The only way someone could have heard would have been through some extreme step like placing a listening device in a highly convenient location. It's possible Alex may have figured out the combination if he really used his head but if he did, he wouldn't have left the tapes inside, especially the incriminating ones, nor would he leave a note for Jay. I guess it's possible he wanted to help Jay during a blurred moment of clarity in which Jay and Jessica weren't in their rooms, he could only help by hiding a note in somewhere other than Jay's room for some reason and the Operator felt no need to stop him. Bit of a stretch.
So in conclusion, I'm thinking it had to be Jessica who left that note for Jay. Which begs the question of why. Obviously she didn't do it consciously, unless she's some master of deception. Only other possible explanation is the Operator made Alex do it out of some elaborate scheme, which again I doubt, why would it bother? Most likely the majority of people who read this will disregard the details of this analysis once I say what it's made me believe more strongly but... it's made me believe more strongly that Jessica is Hoody.
I've explained this before but I'll quickly go over how I think this could be possible in the first place. We know Jessica was Amy's roommate, so was in close contact with her. Amy and Alex were attacked by the Operator, making the place dangerous for anyone who may have a reason to return. We've also seen her exhibit far stronger signs of slender sickness than Jay and it's implied that Tim developed his Masky persona as a result of exposure to the Operator. So I believe Jessica encountered TO at Amy's place after the events of Entry #26, then developed a split-personality, the other side being Hoody, with Jay and Alex merely assuming she was always normal when communicating with her in the missing 7 months.
How would you explain the note?

It's possible that Jay wrote it? Entry 52 happens before Entry 33 is supposed to have happened, right? Maybe he made sure to write down his combination, knowing that he has memory loss, and he hid a copy for himself in his room and one in Jessica's room, just in case anything happened.

Why would Jay use an Operator symbol? And where did his copy go?

I always assumed Jessica wrote it for herself, although I don't know why she'd use the operator symbol. It's possible one of the influences of the operator is to put these images in people's minds (as we know it induces dreams in Jessica). Or Jessica found the Marble Hornets channel and wanted to leave a hint to Jay that she knew some of the back story. (After all, if you google for Alex Kralie, the only connection between Jessica and Jay, you get Marble Hornets.)

I'd assumed that Jay wrote it & someone else turned the 0 into an Operator symbol later.
Only other possibility is ToTheArk, who would have gotten the combination from spying on Jay.

I believe hoody wrote it.
My problem with the scene is that Masky comes out of nowhere.
It's actually the point in the plot that I feel is weakest at a glance but maybe it will be explained.
I feel that Masky isn't...crafty / manipulative enough as an entity to wind up in her room by himself. So, I think...like the one other time with Alex...Hoody and Masky were there together...and Hoody left the note with the combination.
I've been pegging Hoody as Sarah...and still do...but this means there's a chance Hoody is Jessica when I really think about it. (Though I believe this to be an outside chance, not the probable course of events)
I don't think Hoody abducted anyone if Jessica isn't Hoody, nor that he/she teleported anyone...I think the 0 was changed to an Operator symbol by Hoody in order to state clearly that she was taken by the Operator like the dead body of the stranger Alex killed in anger, Seth...and Alex's girlfriend Amy. (I believe strongly that Seth and Amy were taken/teleported)

It is likely that Jessica wrote it down when Jay told her to remember the conversation. Then goody or masky found it the night she disappeared and added the x over the 0 to let jay know the note was important.

The most reasonable explanation is that Jessica wrote it and Masky!Tim modified it.
It is possible that Alex or Hoody somehow got involved, but we haven't seen anything to support that yet.

If Jessica wrote it, & Jesscia was having Operator shenanigans, then it's quite possible that she made the symbol.

I don't see why Jessica would have written it for her own convenience. She couldn't remember the last four digits of her own phone number? Either she wrote it for Jay or someone listened in on their conversation and wrote it down for Jay.

I don't see any reason for going to the trouble of sneaking into Jessica's room and finding the note just to put a cross through the zero. It already said "Combination:", I think that's enough for Jay to realise its importance.
Also something I didn't mention, I think Masky came in when he did because Hoody told him to. If Jessica is Hoody, then that would explain the timing. Masky doesn't come in until after Jay's packed up, so it probably wasn't to stop him. It may have just been to hurry him up in case Alex/TO appeared or possibly to try to recruit him in a way that was guaranteed to fail.

Masky's end goal seems to have been to subdue Jay & take him to the Hoody Hut.
I'm assuming that certain characters just have a compulsion to draw Operator symbols.
