Not sure if Trailhead or just Postmodernism

Hello everyone,

I don't know if this is really a proper ARG or not, but Mark Z Danielewski has been posting apparently empty black images on Facebook, with numbers as titles. I haven't found anywhere else discussing it, and I thought maybe the bright folks here about could look into it.

https://www.facebook.com/MarkZDanielewski

Thanks for your time.

Well, there is this

"As a darkness falls: in the end you will have all the answers and still mystery will be preserved ..." (from this post)

Couple things on coords vs. Google Maps. Google has a helpful "feature" that "adjusts" your coords to the nearest street address rather than the true location. (Helpful right? Rolling Eyes ) To get past that put the modifier loc: in front of the coords.

Doing that, most of the coords point to somewhere in the wilderness, rather than the streets you have named on your map.

I wish I had seen this earlier... I was at the Mohonk Preserve, right by the first set of coords on Saturday....

JPGs

This is still going on, and if anyone's interested, there only seem to be a few folks actively trying to figure this out. Indeed, it could just be poetry, but of course it looks like a challenge.

Some things we know:

- they post every other Thursday
- sometimes the locations are thematic, like Independence Hall on July 4th (Independence Day)
- the black squares are JPGs, but they're not all identical, though some are. They vary in size from about 4K to about 16K.

Here's a google Doc with some notes and links:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1O_vpFaomeNtIpBwo3H6Tr7Xzph_2opYl1xVIumFAw-U/edit

The more people we have looking at this, the sooner a solution may be found! (If indeed one is forthcoming.)

Shameless Bump, I know.
Only bumping because these puzzles still persist, yet still no one knows what they mean.

Ok, so from everything that I've hunted down and everyone I've managed to talk to, it seems we still only know very little about these coordinates-if they are indeed still coordinates.

A little clarification is in order: This could be something relating to his 20+ volume The Familiar. We know it's about cats and about a special cat in particular.

1. Most, if not all of the GPS locations mark somewhere about cats.
2. Some have hinted at a possible connect-the-dots puzzle, has anyone tried this yet?
3. Besides looking with color hex values, what other tests can be performed on these mysterious black boxes?
4. I've looked into this myself, but do the few quotes come from anywhere or are they unique to Danielewski?
