Maybe Alex's birthday isnt on April 4th and TTA will let us know before this date, which means last year it was what we thought to be Alex's last birthday.

Alex dies of a heart attack at 23:59:40 on April 3rd. Jay had the Death Note all along and the operator is the shinigami. That's why Hoody never reveals his/her face and why we never find out Jay's full name. And something about eyes.

Hood already tried to make good on his threat a few entries back, lost his nerve and didn't go through with it. Alex lives to see at least one more birthday, although the Operator might be his only well-wisher this time around.

So Decay was referring to Tim, who eventually did lead Brian "to death", but did he also lead him to the ark? Does this imply that death is the only escape from The Operator? This is getting heavy.
